ECF Directives Acceptance Pledge
I, Bre'Tal hereby accept and promise to abide by as well as uphold all the Directives of the Exploratory Crews of the Federation.

Bre'Tal's parents met during a covert reunification meeting. His father was one of the Vulcans in attendance who had pledged to help the Romulan people regain their lost heritage. As part of the learning process, Bre'Tal's father performed a mind meld with an especially eager student. It was during this meld that Bre'Tal's parents bonded.
Promising to return for his bondmate, Pre'Lar made arrangements to extricate T'Kal and make a life with her on Vulcan. The task proved to be quite difficult and took much longer than expected. Romulan security along the boarders had been heightened and by the time Pre'Lar returned for his mate, she had given birth to Bre'Tal.
By this time, Romulan intelligence knew of Bre'Tal's heritage and were monitoring his mother closely. T'Kal was unaware of this surveillance and therefore was unable to prevent the tragedy which followed. During the transport process when she and Bre'Tal were to be beamed to Pre'Lar's ship, the Tal Shiar attempted to lock on to Pre'Lar. Transporter signals intersected resulting in a massive feedback loop. As a result of this, T'Kar's pattern was lost in the matterstream. Bre'Tal was beamed to his father's ship alone. Pre'Lar mourned the loss of his mate and took young Bre'Tal to Vulcan.
Bre'Tal was raised in the Vulcan tradition by his father. Upon reaching adulthood, he received his father's approval and blessing when he announced that it was his wish to join Starfleet.
