She began her rigorous training at the age of 10 and excelled in her studies. She achieved Level 3 clearance by the time she was 14, and was responsible for patrolling the grounds around the palace. At age 16 she earned Level 2 clearance and guarded the palace directly, and by the time she was 18 she reached Level 1 clearance becoming the youngest and first female to guard the King and Queen. She worked closely with her father and Uncle until she was 20 years old, until three months after her 20th year the people of Abennelp rebelled against the King and Queen and overthrew the Royal Family. The "Great War" lasted only two months, the Kings Legion was halved in the first month of fighting. Realizing their imminent defeat, they joined with the rebels and helped to bring down 15 members of the Royal Guard while taking control of the Palace. The King and Queen were brought to safety by the Royal Guardians, but having no where to turn, they had no other choice but to leave the planet.
The Boon family stayed with the King and Queen guarding them as they traveled through space looking for a new place to regroup and weigh their options. While traveling through the Beta Quadrant into the Alpha Quadrant the ship encountered a Romulan Warbird. Their ship, being far less sophisticated than the Warbird, took on heavy damage within minutes of defending itself. Tiva and several members of her family were able to escape in shuttles and pods, however Tiva was the only one able to evade the Warbird and survive. The King and Queen, their four children and 25 members of Tiva's family including her parents and siblings were killed.
Distraught at the loss of her family, but fearful for her own safety, she piloted her shuttle to the first friendly planet in the Alpha Quadrant, and learned all about the Federation of Planets and Starfleet. One month before her 21st year she applied to Starfleet and was accepted. She excelled at her classes, and with her extensive training as a Royal Guard, it helped propel her into Starfleet Security. She has high respect for the Federation and Starfleet, and has grown to admire it's customs, regulations and beliefs.
She formed several strong friendships while at the academy, but still she longs to see her home planet. She has had several secret communications with friends on Abennelp, and has been told that the planet is in a state of chaos and poverty. Though she knows she cannot return to Abennelp, she hopes her people will realize the errors of their ways and call for Federation assistance.
She has several items native to her home planet, a religious book called the "Yantar," her favorite childhood game Pitari, and one painting of her family. She also has a few artifacts signifying her standing in the Royal Guard, including a leather and metal hair piece she braids into her hair; a symbol of Guardianship.
Tiva was assigned the Chief of Security position on the USS Talon, under the command of Captain Tre'Maar.
Tiva's first year on board the USS Talon, was quite an experience. Having become almost emotionless after seeing her family slaughtered before her eyes, she found it hard to let others see a 'softer' side to her personality. She became quick friends with fellow telepath Nala Reed. Under her expert tutelage Tiva expanded her telepathic and empathic abilities, strengthening them beyond most known races of the Federation.
As the months went by, Tiva began to open up, allowing a select few to see the type of person she had been long ago. Still stringent, independent, and strong willed, Tiva began to come out of her shell and form strong bonds among those she most trusted. Putting her Guardian life behind her, she attempted to integrate herself into Starfleet society and build a new life for herself. Her first attempt at a romantic relationship backfired, and she found comfort in the most unlikely of places, the free spirited long-lived First Officer of the USS Nebuchadnezzer, Adam Cooper.
While onboard Starbase 7, she was suddenly abducted by Bounty Hunters. The Hunters, bringing her back to her home planet for execution for treason, began to torture Tiva for vital information about her planet and inadvertently caused her mind to split to protect itself from the massive electro shocks.
Upon her return to the Talon, she became addicted to pain medication and neural suppressants, trying to keep the darker part of her psyche under control. During this time she was made aware that she was the rightful heir to the throne of Abennelp. With the help of friends and those she cared for most, she accepted her fate as Queen, and made plans to save her people from the Rebels still in control on her planet.
She has since petitioned Starfleet for admittance into the Federation on behalf of her planet, and they have accepted with open arms. Tiva continues her duties now aboard board the USS Vigilant, as her planet rebuilds and recovers from the many ravaging years of war, and she awaits the time her people are ready to accept her as ruler of the planet.
