It's too ambient to be death metal, too insanely fast and hard edged to be ambient.
The vocals are too intelligent for teeny bopping wankers and too twisted and bitter to be bland and commercially mainstream and the high tempo and gothic-like melody of the keyboards pull it away from straight rock.
This is a concept album without being a concept album. It expands your perceptions while showing that other dimensions cannot be captured with clumbsy words.
But where words fail, music triumphs.
