In 1968, Session guitarist Jimmy Page had joined The Yardbirds just before their break-up. Vowing to keep the band going, he looked for new members to play as "The New Yardbirds". After reading an article in "Disc Magazine", fellow sessionist John Paul Jones called Jimmy, excited about the new band. Meanwhile, Page had heard of an unbelievable blues singer, Robert Plant. They were blown away when they heard him. Plant told the guys of a former bandmate he grew up with who was an awesome drummer who's sound was amazing. The band was formed, and ready to perform. On October 15th, 1968, they played thier first Brittish show under a new name, Led Zepplin ( as in "you'll go over like a lead zeppelin", coined by The Who's drummer, Keith Moon. They rocked Britian and forged on to America. Touring with Vanilla Fudge, Zeppelin took the US by storm. In 1969, they toured the states 3 times. This was the begining of a new revolution in Rock-and-Roll, setting the path for musicians of yesterday and today. Led Zeppelin changed the face of Rock forever, and will live on forever as well.
