March 9, 1995

The purpose of this attempt to explain the History of Rocky's Rag Bulletin Board System is to keep you the caller informed as to what is happening with Rocky's Rag Bulletin Board System Home Page. I started working on this Bulletin Board System on or about February 1, 1995. The Bulletin Board System went on line on February 8, 1995. Between February 8, and February 16, 1995 I began to download files and gathering files and information to be placed on the Bulletin Board System. During the period February and March, there were a few Sysop from around the area who called and offered some suggestions. Thank you all very much. In this short time we have added about 24 new callers. Also some door games were brought on line in the past few days. Check them out and leave your comments and suggestions for additional games and other improvments for this Bulletin Board System.

March 21, 1995

Since the last update of this letter we have accomplished a number of things. Hold on I told you we were going to grow. Since the last update we have increased our file base from about 30 files to 224 files as of today. We have added 10 Trivia Door Games. We added Food Fite, Legend of the Red Dragon, Lasso, Bowling, and Jot in the DOOR Games area. We have added The TOP TEN(ers) Bulletin which list the top ten callers, the top ten downloaders and top ten uploaders. We added the Birthday Bulletin which list all callers birthday during the current month. Though it may be a while before some see it we now have a program that will give you a special greeting when you have logged on 25 times. Keep calling and you will see it before you know it. Then if you hang in and watch us grow it will greet you again when you have logged on 100 times. We also added a program you will see around Easter I am keeping it kind of a secret. Well I said I would keep this letter updated from time to time and I will. As you can see I have had a very busy couple of weeks since the last update but I will try to keep you up to date on what is happening. So you keep me up to date on what you would like to see happen on this BBS.

April 28, 1995

Since the last update on March 21, 1995 we have added, by request, the game Usurper hope everyone is enjoying it. I have also added a new game called Murder Mansion. I have put a lot of effort into getting more files on the board. We have increased from the 224 reported last time to 3,861 as of the date of this report and expect to hit 5,000 before much longer. I told you when I started we were going to grow so be a frequent caller and watch us grow.

May 19, 1995

Here I go again. Since the last update we have exceeded the goal of 5000 files. As of today we have 5279 downloadable files. I have added, by request the Door game Yankee's and Red Necks. If there are others you would like to see on the board let me know and I'll try to get them on. I have had a couple of request to put Trade Wars on the board. I will try to get it and put it on the board.

As you may have noticed I have added a file named ROCKYDL.ZIP in file area 4 Worksaver Programs, this file is an almost complete listing of all the downloadable files on this BBS. It includes an index and a short description of each file. I will try to keep this file updated from time to time. Using this file with your off-line reader will make it easy for you to look through the files at your leasure and select the files you want to download.

I have increased the download ratio from 7 to 1 to 20 to 1 so you may download more files before you need to upload 1. Keep in mind that good BBS'es are built by sharing rather than just taking. Take all that you like but don't forget to share.

I have also added another new file called NUCALLER.ZIP this file will be offered for downloading to all new caller. It contains the rules of the board along with some other things that I feel are important for new users to know about. Feel free to download this file anytime you would like to have a copy of it. The file is located in file area 1 Recent Uploads.

July 27, 1995

I have recently added Node 3 to this BBS. If you want to download faster or if you find node 1 is busy then give Node 3 a try at 205-447-9923. Node 3 is running at 28.8.

I have also added a trivia area to the board. This area is nothing but trivia check under Door A in the Door Section. If you have or know of any additional door trivia games let me know about them and I will try to get them on the board.

I have been having to change some of the door games around since I added Node 3 hang in there and I will get them fixed if there has been a problem with the ones you like let me know and I'll try to get it fixed for you.

January 14, 1996

Though it has been a while since I last updated this letter I do have some good news to share with you all.

By the end of the week I shoud have an additional 7,000 files on board. This will give us a total of about 27,000 downloadable files.

I am continuing to offer the QUICK LOG on to anyone who wants it. Just leave a comment to sysop requesting it. You should have it within 24 hours. This will allow you to log on and skip the opening screens and go directly to the main menu.

I have been adding a lot of new DOORGAMES in the door scetion. The choice, Family Games Room, will have several selections in that area so check them out and let me know of any problems.

January 14, 1996 I have upgraded to Spitfire 3.51 so there will be a few changes but nothing to be worried about. Let me know if you encounter any problems.

September 13, 1997

Since the last update we have increased the file base to 28,000+ downloadable files in 281 file areas, a pretty hefty message base,and 70+ door games. We have the largest LORD game in the state of Alabama. We are running LORD 3.26 with 50+ In Game Modules, LORD 3.55 with 50+ In Game Modules, and LORD 2 with 30+ In Game Modules. My two modems have been upgraded to 33.6 and 28.8. I now have 20 CD's online full time. I have recently added this home page for advertising Rocky's Rag Bulletin Board System located in beautiful Rockrun, Alabama...

October 21, 1998

Though many of the Bulletin Board Systems have closed down because of the internet we are still kicking.
