Get Active ~ Do Something

Sharing with others is a valuble way to deal with grief. But there are times when no one is around, and you are left alone with your thoughts. I have had many times like that this past week, since I am not currently working. It's not a very fun place to be, alone with your thoughts, when you're grieving like this.

When I first heard of Michael's death, I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. Through talking to people in one of the chat rooms, I started to realize that this, in fact, had happened. The emotions started to trickle in through the numbness, and I had to find some way to deal with those emotions. Some way to express them. The way that worked the best for me, at that time, was to write. Michael's words, and the music of INXS has had an incredible impact on my life. Even so, there was one particular memory that I needed to write about. I couldn't talk about it in the chat rooms, because it was too painful for me. So, I had to write about it in order to deal with the emotions. If you haven't been to the main entrance of this site (not the page with the candle), you can read what I wrote, here.

That was the second thing that I did to get active. The third thing, and the most important thing that has helped me in dealing with my own grief, has been to reach out to others. I encourage you to do this. It is amazing what happens to our own pain when we reach out to others. I told you that this website was an inspiration, and it is. It truely wasn't a thought that came from my mind. But it has helped me tremendously to share with you, to reach out to you. Thanks for being there. We're all in this together, and together, we will get through it.
