Cut to Willow asleep. Her clock reads three A.M. The phone rings. She opens her eyes and answers it.
Will: "Hello?"
Buff: "Will, hi. I couldn't sleep."
Will: "Oh?"
Buff: "I really have a bad feeling about Xander and whatever her name is. I need your help."
Will: "What? I really don't want to play friends against friends."
Buff: "I want to do some research. Psychological stuff. She's messed up."
Will: "I have a date with Oz, but I'll meet you at the library at five o clock. Me sleep now."
Buff: "OK, sorry to wake you Will. Thanks."
Willow hangs up, lays back down. Cut to Cordelia's room. She awakens suddenly to the sound of glass breaking and a dog barking. She senses something is there. She walks out of her bedroom to the banister. She leans over slightly and sees a shadowy figure run across the foyer. She jumps back, but proceeds to go downstairs anyway. As she creeps sown she hears a door slam. She goes into the living room and finds the words 'STAY AWAY' scrawled on the wall in red paint. She cautiously approaches something on the floor and picks it up. It is a picture of her and Xander that has been smashed. Next scene. Oz arrives at Willow's house. She looks terrible.
Oz: "Will... is that you?"
Will: "Huh?"
Oz: "You look like the sleepy mass formerly known as Willow."
Will: "Phone calls."
Oz: "What?"
Will: "Continuous phone calls. Buffy, Xander, .. Cordelia."
Oz: "Explain."
Will: "Xander went psycho, Buffy slapped him. Buffy's worried, Xander's mad, and someone broke into Cordelia's house last night. And... they all called me... at three in the morning."
Oz: "So, I guess that means out date is off?"
Will: "No! I can go..."
She falls asleep in his arms. He takes her inside and lays her on the couch. He sits down in an armchair.
Oz: "This is fun."
Next scene Buffy is in the library practically pacing. Of course Willow isn't there. (she's sleeping) Buffy looks at her watch and waits. Giles comes in.
Giles: "Buffy, what are you doing here... on a Saturday?"
Buff: "Willow was supposed to meet me. Didn't she call you?"
Giles: "No, I just stopped by to pick something up. Why? Do you need me?"
Buff: "No, go have your watcher-like fun!"
Giles: "All right, um, are you sure."
Buff: "As sure as the grass is green!"
Giles: "All right."
He leaves. Buffy paces some more. Time lapse. Buffy is sitting at the table. Xander walks in.
Buff: "Oh! Will!... or Xander. What are you doing here?"
Xand: "Last time I checked it was still a public library, or have you turned it into your boxing ring and I'm your first opponent?"
Buff: "That was harsh."
Xand: "I'd say sorry, but I wouldn't mean it."
Buff: "Are you trying to make me hit you? Because you've been asking for it all year."
Xand: "Feel free! You're always practicing your technique."
Buff: "You think you could take me?"
Xand: "Yes."
With that Buffy sends her leg up for a kick, but he ducks. Then he trips Buffy with one swift movement. She falls on her back, but quickly sends a blow to his stomach with both feet. He doubles forward in pain and she jumps to her feet with her hands raised for battle.
Xand: "Come on Slayer, is that all you have?"
Buff: "Xander, I..."
She gets his attention with his name and quickly knocks him to the ground with a blow to the head and kicking his knees out from under him. She gets behind him and kicks him face down and brings his two arms behind him as if she were to handcuff him. She sits on his legs so he can't kick her. He struggles to break free from his grasp.
Buff: "You see, fighting doesn't solve any problems."
She carefully gets up off his legs.
Buff: "Now, get up and don't try anything."
He gets up and turns to face her. He looks pissed.
Xand: "Now instead of being the stimulant for your libido, I'm your punching bag."
She tries to punch him but he catches her hands: first her right then her left. She struggles against him, but he pulls her close and kisses her fiercely. She tries to pull away, but eventually gets into it. They break apart about half a foot and she looks up at him. They begin to kiss romantically with bottled up passion. When they finally part, Madison/Brittany is standing about ten feet away. She suddenly rushes towards them with a butcher knife. Buffy shrieks and they dash apart.
