the Goat's head

I worked for a man who often used the expression,"Two heads are better than one even if one's a goat's head". Of course he was only joking, but I seem to have picked up the saying also. Funny how trivial things like that stay with you. It's been a few years since we worked together, and I hardly ever see him anymore. His wife was a fine lady.In fact;I used to tell her she was,"My mother away from home",which was pretty much true. Sometimes I miss them.I had no family here, and they treated me like I belonged. She's passed on now,and he still works in construction;albeit,a bit less, and slower to. I remember the days when we'd come in for lunch, and if she didn't have anything ready;you see,we knocked off for lunch in between jobs, and you could never tell when that'd be,we would grab something out of the fridge;eggs, salt pork, whatever, and in nothing flat we had a table full of food, and a healthy appetite,so we did just fine. Those days are gone, but not forgotten.I look back, mostly with fond memories,at the time I spent working for one of the nicest, but hardest headed people you'd ever want to meet. I reckon we never settled just which one of us was the goat, but I knew all along that it was me.Anyone who can sink a battleship with a glass hammer(so I've been told!),or tear up an anvil in a sand bed(that's me to!), has got to be more than a little stubborn;and besides....(not that I put stock in astrology),......I was born a Capricorn,.....so go figure:)
