Before posting something online;it's a
good idea to know at least a little
about A.-What you want to say. B.-What
the subject is,and C.-Does anyone really
care?... I recently decided that I knew something about poetry/writing so I posted some of my creative process in a poetry forum.First mistake!...I even hung around for awhile to read any constructive criticism.Bad idea!...Bad;Bad Idea!... Okay. We'll start on what happened by referring to C.-Does anyone really care? Let me put it like this. How does a room that holds 20 people suddenly spout 80 opinions?Well;maybe that's just a simple mathematical error. That'd be okay, but for the fact that 79 are shouting such comments as "Kill the Bum!",or "Who's the blankity-blank poet!",or"Man;that stuff really sucks!"... The answer to C. is yea;they care.Oh;the lone hold out on the lynch mob was me;trying to talk my way out of the room;apologizing for ever thinking I was a poet, and promising never to do it again!... Let us move on,or in this case;back to B.-What's the subject. Clearly I had no idea what the subject was,and as of yet;haven't a clue. I mean;I thought stringing words together with some semblance of meaning is poetry!...Wrong again;although I did learn some words that formerly didn't exist, and gained a vast appreciation of the value of ignorance;my own!... That leaves A.-knowing what you want to say. This is the one I should have examined a tad bit closer, but,ya know something? I can't say that this hasn't been a learning experience,or that it was all bad. No.I actually learned a lot.I know my place.I have it all figured out. Never enter a post online without:Growing a thick hide(I'd say rhinoceros, but tank armor is better),having Will Shakespeare as your spokesman(and that's no sure bet either!),and finally;Be prepared to give it your best shot, because it's certain that,if you don't;someone is going to shoot you down in flames like a Piper Cub being mauled by a surface to air missle!...Need I say more? :) |
When I wrote this it was meant to be taken as 'tongue in cheek' humor.Although it's based on real events;I greatly exaggerated everything in the hopes of making it funny.
