9.  Command Summary

Weather and Thermal Data Services
 

CTRL-w weather update - provides a current report of weather conditions, including wind speed and direction, cloudbase altitude, amount of cloud coverage, and general weather trend (improving, stable, or deteriorating).  This function only works when the COM radio frequency is 128.95 MHz.
CTRL-x toggle between text and voice weather updates
CTRL-c display bearings and distances to obvious signs of lift (either obvious ground-based thermal triggers or the bases of building clouds)
CTRL-v display local magnetic variation (true degrees = magnetic degrees + magnetic variation)
 

Competition-Related Functions and Data
 

CTRL-t Begin flight task selection.  The following five commands are functional only if they follow a "CTRL-t" command
    SHIFT-L
display a list of waypoints from which to select, and display instructions for making a selection
    SHIFT-b
select Buchanan airport as a turnpoint or goal
    SHIFT-h
select Hamilton Army airport as a turnpoint or goal
    SHIFT-m
select Half Moon Bay airport as a turnpoint or goal
    SHIFT-s
select Sonoma County airport as a turnpoint or goal
CTRL-p snap a turnpoint photo (only functions if a task with a turnpoint has been chosen)
CTRL-f display flight computer data - elapsed course time, course distance achieved, average course speed since launch, current course speed, and estimated time to arrival
CTRL-r Display flight results.  Only functional after landing short of goal or after completing goal - not functional in flight unless goal has been achieved.  Display course distance achieved, task distance, flight time on course, and average course speed.
 

Navigational Functions

The following functions display distance, bearing, and glide ratio to the listed location from the plane's current position.
 

CTRL-b Buchanan Airport
CTRL-h Hamilton Army Airport
CTRL-l starting (launch) position
CTRL-m Half Moon Bay Airport
CTRL-q center of "soarable" area
CTRL-s Sonoma County Airport
 

Glider Performance Data
 

CTRL-a display current indicated airspeed, sink rate, and glide ratio (through the air - not necessarily the glide ratio across the ground)
