The Ogier were also reputed to have served among the Age's law enforcment. Although consisered a pacific people and extremly slow to anger, some old stories say they fought alongside humans in the Trolloc Wars, and call them implacable enimies.
During the breaking the land and sea shifted so dramaticallt that the stedding were lost or swallowed entirely. Those Ogier that survived the upheavel of land and sea found themselves homeless and adrift, wansering in search of thier lost sancutaries. Among Ogier this time is known as the Exile. After many years their Longing for the peace and beauty that only existed within the stedding became so strong that they began to sicken and die. Many more died than did not. Since that time the Ogier do not leave the stedding for extensive periods. If an Ogier stays Outside for too long, the Longing takes him and he begins to weaken. If he does not return, he dies. Though this was not true during the Age of Legends, the long Exile apparently sensitized Survivors and their descendents so that all Ogier are now bound to the stedding
Ogier stedding seem to be shielded in some unknown way that completly prevints
the One Power from being channeled, or even sensed, within their boundaries;attempts to
wield the One Power from outside a stedding have no affect inside it. The very
air inside a stedding seems somehow different from that outside, fresher or more
peaceful, causing most visitors to shiver in surprise upon entering. No Trolloc will enter
a stedding unless driven, and even Myrddraal willdo so only at the greatest and with
the greatest reluctance. It is said that Darkfriends, if truly dedicated, also feel uncomfortable
and unwelcome there. The exact properties of a stedding are unknown.
