Chan Ying Lai returns to take the lead of New Dr. Lamb

New Dr. Lamb earlier abandoned former Miss Malaysia Chan Ying Lai as its lead actress and Lee Tin Na took over.
However on the 22nd Chan Ying Lai reappeared on the set. She explained, "I didn't disappear. I was working on a
television series in the Malaysian countryside. When the Hong Kong producers couldn't contact me, they mistook me
for turning down the role. After last Tuesday when I came to Hong Kong and explained to them clearly, I got the
role back."
However the lead actor Simon Tat Wa had a few words. "Actually before a film company knows who will be in the cast for sure, it would be best to keep quiet so others wouldn't be affected. As an actor, of course I couldn't care too much!"
The Stephen Chiau Sing Chi directed and starred King of Comedy began production on the 23rd.
The film's entire cast, including Karen Joy Morris , new comer Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi,
Sing Ye's old partner Ng Man Tat, and Alex Man Jin Leung who hasn't made a film in two years,
appeared at the ceremony.
The last time Chow Sing Chi, Ng Man Tat and Man Jin Leung teamed up was a decade ago on the TVB series
"He Comes From The Triad" (Ta Loi Ji Gong Wu). Chow Sing Chi expressed that he has always hoped to land
Man Jin Leung, unfortunately he has been busy with his Mainland business. When he personally called
Man Jin Leung to offer the role, he agreed without even knowing what character he would be playing, a fact
that Sing Jai truly appreciated. He thought the collaboration of him, Ng Man Tat, and Man Jin Leung would
be meaningful. "Brother Tat is quite a guy. Earlier he has already taken roles in a television series which
is shooting in Guangzhou. For King of Comedy, he will have to constantly commute between Hong Kong and China."
As for casting new comer Cheung Pak Chi, Chow Sing Chi said that he has always cast new comers in his films.
He felt that giving new comers opportunities is rather important, just as if no one gave him a chance
in the past, today's Chow Sing Chi wouldn't be here.
With two beauties in the lead, will Chow Sing Chi be involved in a complicated love triangle in the
film? Sing Jai smiled, "Something like that."
"Hi C girl"(an Lemon Tea ad she took not long ago) Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi attended the ceremony
with her manager Chu Wing Lung. When asked about romantic links between her and Jason Chu Wing Tong,
(Jason Chu is a member of the group Wind,Fire,Sea....he acted in Young and Dangerous too and the brother of Cecelia's manager.)
Cheung Pak Chi was protected like an endangered animal by her manager.
After winning a Golden Globe award for Best Picture
with Sense and Sensibility, Ang Lee has become the
director many Hong Kong and Taiwan stars want to work
with.
According to a Taiwan report, Ang Lee recently has been
in preparation for Lying Tiger Hidden Dragon (Ngor Fu Chong Lung)
and has signed Jet Li , Michelle Yeoh ,Takeshi Kaneshiro , and Hsu Chi
to the project.
Ang Lee has always been strict with casting. He hoped
that to cast Lee Nin Kit in the role of Lee Mo Bat,
Yeung Chi King as Yu Sau Lin, Gum Sing Mo as Law Siu Fu
and Hsu Chi as Yuk Giu Lung. However whether Hsu Chi would
be the official choice would depend on Ang Lee's reaction.
Hsu Chi has met with the film company's chief Tsui Lap Kung
who hoped to pair her with Gum Sing Mo in the afternoon
of the 24th.
The film is said to begin production around June 1999
and will cost around US$15 million. Ang Lee currently
is concerned with possible time conflicts due to the
four stars' busy schedules.
Meanwhile Michelle Yeoh has revealed that in March she
will work on a foreign film and in April she will have
to head to Europe for another. Also she will work with
Wong Kar Wai, Ang Lee, and Yim Ho. However, she wasn't
sure whether Wong Kar Wai will ask her to play Siu Lung Nui
because negotiation hasn't gone that far yet. She might
also take part in Chow Yun Fat's Anna and the King.

Kelly Chan Wai Lam; Kyoko Fukada (Sum Tin Gung Ji);
Rumors have been flying about Kelly Chan Wai Lam being in a Japanese series with Kyoko Fukada (Sum Tin Gung Ji) for quite sometime and finally were confirmed.
According to two Japanese newspaper reports, originally Fuji Television planned to cast Sum Tin Gung Ji in a comedy in January, but later they felt Sum Tin Gung Ji is better at tragedy and cast her and Chan Wai Lam in the very tragic I Will Not Admit Defeat which will begin its run on January 12th and run weekly on Tuesdays at 8:00 PM in hopes that they can make better series than Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo)'s Lord! Please Give Me A Little More Time.
Kelly thus has become the first Hong Kong star to land on the Japanese series scene.
According to Chan Wai Lam's manager , the show will be about two girls who work in a hotel. Kelly will play a girl from China who is studying aboard in Japan and is working illegally at the hotel. "Of course Kelly's role isn't as great as Sum Tin Gung Ji's.
Kelly herself doesn't dare to take on too much because she doesn't know if her Japanese can handle it. Although she has studied in Japan, it has been awhile since she spoke Japanese.
Because the shoot will take 3 months, Kelly will have to go to Japan four times a month."

* Because the ad took all night, 16 year old Fiona of course was a little dazed. When she didn't have to look at the camera she just stared at Snoopy. The great part is that even after 20 some bad takes for a shoot she still didn't throw a tandrum, proving that she has grown up as a professional.
* Seeing the variety of Snoopy goodies, after the ad, Fiona took everything home. Since normally she already has sposnors for hair, makeup and clothing, it's no wonder Fiona's mom said, "$1,500 a month is plenty for Fiona, she doesn't have to buy anything."
