Angus started playing guitar at age nine.
It was rumored that Angus started performing in his school boy uniform because he did not have time to change after school. When he joined AC/DC, his sister Margaret suggested that he continue wearing it. Angus also wore several costumes before settleing on the school boy look. One was "Super Angus" where he dressed as SuperMan, and even came out of a telephone booth,that is until the door got stuck.
Angus once told "Sounds" magazine in '76 "We want to aooeal to everyone
and get rich quick.I've got this plan to buy Tasmania you see...."
Angus liked the Gibson SG because of it's horns. He thought it
looked kind of evil.
After Bon Scott's Death, Angus said he felt "Horribly grown-up".
Angus loves to draw. He paints Lanscapes in his free time. The cartoon devil Angus draws(seen in the Heat Seeker & LTRB videos, and on the '95 Ballbreaker Tour Program) is his logo.
Although Angus never took guitar lessons as a boy, he is considered one of the greatest guitaritst of all time. He currently has his own colum in GUITARWORLD. He is also the spokesman for the Gibson Sg '61 reissue, and spokesman for Erine Ball strings.
If you've seen AC/DC live you know Angus doesn't sit still for more then a few seconds. On average he looses over 7 LBS per show.
Angus is the only band member who never indulged in the Rock N Roll lifestyle. Back in the early days the record companies couldn't afford to pay up front, so they would pay the members with a bottle of Jack and a Bag of weed, but Angus refused. So they had to give him a sketch book and a pack of smokes.
Angus is a big fan of blues great Buddy Guy.
