It's amazing when you search your family's tree! Well I found a person whom I would like to share. I have read his autobiography and have my respect from my heart.

Here is a link that has the complete book for you to read: Klengenberg - input by Jake Mindy 2006

Christian Klengenberg Jorgensen was born December 21, 1869 at Svendborg, Funen Island, Denmark to Jorgen and Moller Jorgensen, he has 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

He loved his parents very much, but he wanted to explorer beyond Denmark.

So he traveled on a Danish ship called "Iceland" from Sweden to New York in April 1885 along with his 2 cousins (a man and his daughter).

He finally arrived in New York and he had ambition to travel everywhere! He went from Hawaii to Africa to Alaska to San Francisco, California, and so on.

July 1893 Kris went on Schooner Emily Schroeder as a cook and steward. Emily was bound for the far North on a trading venture. He traveled in Alaska to Canada and finally to Pt. Hope, Alaska. He knew that he was in the REAL Arctic!

He decided to change his name, most people in the Arctic known him as Christian (Kris) Klengenberg or Charlie Klengenberg.

In 1894 they landed in Pt. Hope, Alaska and stayed for awhile, Kris fell in love with Gremnia a Inupiat Eskimo. See Chapter 77-78 in the Klengenberg Book.

Here is a quote what he said, "I heard a light knock on the door (ship), and called out for whomever it might be to come in. But no one came, so I went to see who was outside. There stood Gremnia (Gremnah). She had on her best furs, and looked her prettiest, with her cheeks glowing, as she held out to me a parka which she had carried on her arm. It was a very fine one, made by her, and it was a present to me.

I looked into her eyes, which she did not turn away this time. She smiled, but all she could say was my name, as she knew it" Charlie Urlie"! Well, I just threw my arms around her and drew her inside, and I made up my mind then and there that I would not let her go from me any more at all, even if I had to leave her sometimes. That was 37 years ago (in 1931), and how faithfully she has stayed by me ever since!"

As the years went by Kris learned to survive in the Arctic from his wife Gremnia. Kris and Gremnia with children traveled from Pt. Hope to Canada on 2 ships, Helen and Olga.

One child died on the way to Canada name Collinson. He drowned in Collinson Point and I believe that he was playing on the ship and must of fell off, and Kris and Gremnia found him to late.

But as the years went by they had more children after that. They all survived and lived in Canada and their children have children. One other child of Kris died name Patsy swimming away from the boat fire but didn't make it to the shore in 1946.

Again, here is the link "Klengenberg of the Arctic". This book is a biography of Christian Klengenberg; a story of him and his family survives the Arctic and what was going on during their travel. There is so much more to say about this family.

I am related to Ikey Bolt, Christian Klengenberg-Jorgensen's son-in-law. Ikey Bolt is my grandfather Richard Bolt's brother of Pt. Hope, Alaska

Christian's wife Gremina was born in Pt. Hope, Alaska a relative to Richard Bolt

There is book call "Arctic Odyssey" a journal of Diamond Jenness and Ikey Bolt. Christian Klengenberg is a blood of Jorgensen family from Denmark.

I am glad that I had a chance to read about Christian and Gremnia's lives and their children. It touched my heart that is what a family is all about.
