Trip report day 3 - part 2

Day 3- Part 2

Back at the pool at the hotel we cool off. That cold water was a bit warmer today and it felt great after going into town. We had a great time in the pool even though there were not really very many activities like in Cancun. Back up to the room and time to get ready for dinner – tonight they were going to have a show.

Tonight was the Mexican show, so they had a Mexican buffet to go along with the show. Yuk, yuk and double yuk! This was really bad. I could have gone to Taco Bell and gotten a gourmet Mexican meal compared to this mess. The comes the topper – I bite into this little sandwich and get enough pepper to kill someone. Water, cervezas, something, anything wet, HELP!!!! I'm on fire, The eyes water, the nose runs. I look like I'm not breathing. Remember those cartoons when we were little and the steam came out of the guys ears? THAT WAS ME! No more dinner for me thank you. The problem with pepper is that you're never quite sure how to make the burn stop. I remember that water does not really help, but they bring it – it's cold – I drink it! Eventually the burning stopped, but I can tell you that it was quite an experience.

Soon it was time for the show. They bring in an outside troop for this show and they are wonderful. If you have seen the Mexican show in Cancun this is the same show. The only difference is that these people are the best I have ever seen doing this type of show. The Mariachi band that came with them was first class. Remember that I made my living playing music for the past 23-years. These people were true professionals – a first class act!

After the show the band played in the lobby for 45-minutes or so. No dead lobby tonight!!! Not as long as these folks are here! They could have played all night long and we would have stayed and listened. They interacted with the crowd, mugging for pictures and dancing with the guests. They were wonderful and they looked like they were having as good a time as we were. I've been on both sides – part of the band and part of the crowd. Let me tell you that where you get and audience like this one you wish you could stay and play all night. These fine musicians were really enjoying themselves.

Eventually they had to leave. The lobby stayed full for a long time, buzzing aver the wonderful performance. Many of us watched the remainder of the Monday Night Football game and then went down to the sports bar for a game of pool. The sports bar here is much more active than the one on Cancun, and it has the best bartender in the entire resort .

It has been a long day – off to bed to dream about giant lizards!
