Daves Colorfull Radios

Welcome to page 30 of Daves Colorfull Radios. On this page we have one radio made of bakelite, one of plaskon and one ofCatalin plastic. The styling differences shows style changes in a ten year period. The Emerson was designed as a 1935 model. The Admiral was made in 1939 and shows the streamlining type of style. The last radio a Bendix 526C shows the simpler styling but with the outstanding coloring of Catalin plastic.

1935 Emerson Model 19

Pictured above is a small Emerson table radio the model 19 made in 1935. This small set shows styling touches from the mid 30s. The grill work is like a lot of the speaker grill work of the early 1930s. A lot of nice touches are seen all over the front of this small radio.

1939 Admiral 372-R

Here is a classic steamline styled table radio from Admiral. With its sweeping left curved left side and wrap around grill work put it right in style for the time. One nice feature was the push buttons on top. This was a nice usefull way for using the pushbuttons for tuning. Very attractive small table radio.

1946 Bendix Model 526C

With its simplistic styling and brite Catalin colors Bendix had a hit with the model 526. In this color combo of black grill and dark green with the yellow swirling this is a great looking radio. The 526 was also made in bakelite cabinets but the ones liked by the collectors are the catalin cabinet version. Click here to go back to page 29 of Daves Colorfull Radios.
