Our Weapons of Choice: Plastic Wrap and Duct Tape!

This is our first guest rant. I hope you not only enjoy reading it (as I did) but also consider the words as being more than a frustration venting, but a serious argument for why we can't let this country slip any further than it has down the tubes. - Matt

When I heard on the news of how many of our Countrymen are stocking up on plastic (and trash bags!!) and duct tape as a response to a possible biological attack, I wondered what the hearty and fearless pioneers who first built this Great Country would think if they could see us now.

And how about the thousands upon thousands of young Americans cut down in the prime of their lives to keep us free, and preserve our way of life... What would they think? Shouldn't our reaction be tempered with at least an awareness of the ultimate sacrifice they made? Don't we owe them that much? I certainly believe in being prepared, but aren't we doing this backwards? I see an analogy to this. When drugs and crime became rampant in many of the urban areas, people, especially the elderly, placed bars on their windows and doors to protect themselves from the criminals, since it became obvious that law enforcement couldn't... or wouldn't protect them.

ISN'T THIS NEWEST THREAT TO OUR SECURITY VERY SIMILAR?

We have to take the initiative, if you will, adopt the "Pioneer Spirit" in dealing with this specific threat, and the many that are SURE to follow, especially if we continue to give just "lip service" to the war on terror. First, we have to seal not or doors or windows, but our BORDERS!!! Until we find the enemy who is already HERE (thousands of operatives working in thirty States), how could we permit even the possibility of letting them increasetheir number? And NEVER forget that the ultimate goal of these people is to bring about to ALL AMERICANS the same fate that befell 3,000 of our fellow citizens on September 11, 2001!

In the unlikely scenario that we would be involved in a situation where we would personally have to confront the enemy... and lose... I hope they would pry more than plastic and duct tape from my cold, dead fingers!
