Myths & Facts: The War With Iraq, The State Of The Nation And Other Current Events

By Matt

I am so tired of the left spouting the same old lies about the current status of our country, it's presidency and the situation in Iraq, be it over or not. They just keep repeating the same bullshit every time the subject comes up, and if you try to disagree, well, let's just say there's no talking to them. Trying to have a debate with a liberal is on par with trying to argue with a three year-old who’s sticking his fingers in his ears and going "LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!"

So here, in my own damn forum, I will put the myths and the facts, side-by-side, and let you, the reader, decide for yourself who's right.

(I am.)

(Side note: Please don't send me any politically driven hate mail about this one. This is just MY OPINION, which I am NOT attempting to shove down ANYONE'S throat. If you don't like it, or if you disagree, hit the "back" button!)

MYTH
The war with Iraq is illegitimate because the UN never gave its approval.

FACT
According to UN resolutions made after the Gulf War, as soon as Hussein broke just ONE resolution we had the right to proceed with immediate military action. Since they were instituted, (c.1990), he has broken those resolutions 14 times.

MYTH
Bush was "selected, not elected."

FACT
According to Florida recounts, when all was said and done, the votes counted and recounted, it was found that Bush had indeed been fairly elected. (Eat that, Daschle.)

MYTH
Bush's visit to the Lincoln kept the crew from their families.

FACT
The date for the crew's leave (May 2nd) was set long before the Prez's visit was even concerned, and was not infringed upon in any way.

MYTH
Clear Channel Broadcasting is a Bush-run organization bent on taking over talk-radio and forcing conservativism down the people's throats.

FACT
One person in Clear Channel personally knows President Bush. That's about as far as it goes. If you're going to say that because he knows Bush then that means that Clear Channel is run by the Bush administration, then you would also have to say that every New York Times journalist is a liar just because Jayson Blair is. One part doesn't make the whole.

MYTH
There are no Weapons of Mass Destruction.

FACT
Deadly chemicals have indeed been found in Iraq. Many, many times! Where this idea came from I have no idea. Why the Democrats are going so apeshit is also beyond me. The liberal Democrats in the senate who are now saying "This war was illegitimate because we haven't found WMD's" are the same exact group of people who composed a letter to President Clinton in 1998 beseeching him to go to war with Iraq because of these "nonexistant" WMD's. WTF?

MYTH
The new tax cut will only make the rich richer, without helping the lower class at all.

FACT
The fact of the matter is that the rich are paying 96% of all taxes, so why the hell shouldn't they get a break? The lower and lower-middle classes are paying less than 4% total. I belong to the latter group and I have no complaints that I won't get a huge break. Look at the big picture. I pay practically no taxes in the long run, and the idea that someone who doesn't pay taxes as it is should get even more of a break for pumping out eight or nine kids and collecting a government check is idiotic. I work my ass off for just over minimum wage, so I am allowed to say this. Shut the fuck up! If you want a tax break, pay taxes! Get out there, apply yourself, save some money and make yourself rich!

Or if that doesn't work. Sue someone.
