This Japanese sailor and I faced each other some 65 years ago in the first battle of Guadalcanal but our only chance of meeting would have been if both of our ships had been sunk in that battle and that we had meet as swimmers. Actually, about 1200 sailors did meet as swimmers when the battle ended.
