Rain clattered against the windows of Geneva's house. After checking on her minidragon, she went outside to see how her merdragons were doing. She did a fin count, only to find that one was missing. Seashell. "Caller!" She shouted, calling out to her wave merdragon. "Where's Seashell?" Caller shrugged. She was off swimming and then the rain started. We haven't seen her since Geneva sighed worriedly. "Lightning, Power, start looking for her but don't go off to far. Everybody else, stay here in case she comes back."
Meanwhile, Aricata was having the same problem. Inhalie was gone. He normally did go off for hours at a time, but never in the rain. She called out of him for a while, and finally trusting that he went eventually come back. She trundled back inside to warm up.
Early evening Seashell decided to go for a refreshing swim since the water had turned cool for some reason. After about 15 minutes of swimming the water felt like ice! She went to the surface to find the clouds dark and the wind very chilly. She went farther down below the surface to try to keep warm. All of a sudden she felt a strong pressure coming at her, throwing her down below the coral into a dark cave, Seashell felt a sharp pain then blacked out.
Why hasn’t Seashell came back yet, asked Geneva nervously calling all her friends to ask them if they saw Seashell. She turned on the TV and saw a special weather report stating a Water spout had been spotted near the pink-fish waters. Oh my ….., Geneva whispered what if…..? She grabbed the phone and punched in Brafuntic Ones number. Hello? Hey, have you by any chance seen Seashell she asked. No why? Turn to the weather channel. Oh no!? You haven’t found her?! I’ll go ask Plage if she by any chance saw her while she was out…………………………………I’m back, said Brafuntic one breathlessly no but Plage did she the water spout earlier. Wait, I’ve got a beep…………………………… I’m back, that was Aricata she can’t find Inhalie! Oh my.. Lightning is striking better get off the phone, Bye. Geneva slouched back into the cushions more discouraged than ever.
Inhalie had been going for a snack-n-swim when the storm struck abruptly. Knowing the water temp. could shut his mind down he swam deep into the coral. Not much warmer down here, he thought. It feels like winter. He swam into a cave and spotted a coral mer laying lifelessly underneath a few rocks. He scooped them off then went to find some roots. He found them then mashed them up and applied them to the scrapes. (A trick he learned from a Healer mer). He covered her up then himself with some seaweed and went to sleep, hearing her ragged but steady breathing all the while. He woke up with the warm sun heating the waters fast. It felt great. He lifted up the mer and tried to find them something to eat. He saw a blue-fish swim by and caught it then tore it into strips then fed let the smell awake her. She opened one eye and took the fish after all of it was gone he went and caught him a pink-fish. Whoo are youu?, she slurred. I am Inhalie and you were hurt by a water spout I suppose, the storm is over know though and soon you will be able to go home. Myy name is Seashell, she said a little better than before. How did you find me?, she asked siting up. I came down here for protection from the storm and found you, Inhalie said smiling.
Seashell looked into his eyes, how trusting and calm. She felt totally secure around him. No other male mer had been like this, she thought. Maybe, I was wrong about boys, she added smiling. What are you smiling about, asked the curious Seashell. Ohhh, nothing, she added with a sly grin, just thinking about you. Well why don’t you share, said Inhalie drifting closer, I’d luv to here about what you think of me. After about 3 hours Seashell was healthy enough to go out to eat. By that time Seashell had become very attached to Inhalie. Where would you like to eat?, Inhalie asked. I’d like to eat at….the Crab shack. A few minutes later they arrived at the crab shack with help from Inhalie. They sat a booth not across from each other but side to side. What do you want, asked Inhalie it’s on me. Well okay I’ll think I’ll have the mussel and barnacle dish with a side order of seaweed. replied Seashell. Well then I’ll have the flounder, shrimp, merweed casserole, said Inhalie smiling. When there food arrived they had started eating when Inhalie asked, Umm…I know this is soon but I like you so much! I couldn’t bear for you to leave me after today so will you become my mate? Seashell replied beaming, Of course couldn’t have said it better myself. Really!!!!, Inhalie replied his eyes wide and smiling after we get you to the Healer we’ll go tell out bonds. Okay agreed Seashell, I’m totally with that. They fed each other there dinner then swam off to the healer. They went inside and waited. When it was there turn Inhalie went with them. The healer said she had had a slight concussion but It all seemed better and the scratches would go away shortly. After they left they headed home to Geneva.
Geneva almost to depression gazed out the window to see 2 merdragons laughing together. Oh how she missed Seashell. Wait! That is Seashell! Seashell, Seashell ,she called running out the door onto the shore down by the water. She dived in and hugged Seashell then Lightning, Power, SeaQueen, Wafer and Caller joined in on the hugging. They stepped back sort of staring at Inhalie. This is Inhalie, boasted Seashell proudly, he saved my life. Geneva’s eyes filled with tears and ran and hugged Inhalie, murmuring Thank you, Thank you over and over. When she finished, Seashell swam forward and announced they had become mates and would like all of them to know it. Everyone rushed up, and congratulated them. Caller who already had a mate swam up to Inhalie and said you are very lucky she is one of the nicest mers I know.
Aricata was truly suprised when she heard Geneva's voice on the other end. "Inhalie? You're found him? Great, how is he? What, you lost Seashell too? And they're mates! If I was there and I'd give them both a hug. Sure, he can stay for a while." Geneva nodded. "Okay, I'll call you back when he's ready to leave. Yeah, I know, this is really great. I'm excited too. Well, goodbye now, I'll see you soon." Geneva grinned and hung up the phone, then walked back out to see what was going on.
10 wekes later Inhalie, asked Seashell, I've been thinking would you like to have a clutch? Well, I've been thinking about that too and decided we should if we agreed, said Inhalie. Come on lets go, laughed Seashell. They swam down to the Crab shack got some takeout and went to canal near the Lake. They swam onto the rock and fed each other. They drifted down into a cool cavern. I love you, said Seashell. I love you too, answered Inhalie with a kiss.
