One day Caller was tired of sitting at home in his part of the sea and
eating
pink fish. He decided it was time to get on with his life and find a mate.
"Hey Geneva," called Caller.
"What?," replied Geneva.
"I am want to go out away from the pink fish water and see beyond the
mount," Caller told her.
"Well... I
suppose you could go but take Lightning with you he could be useful," said
Geneva.
'Lightning! No way am I taking Lightning,' thought Caller, 'but wait I
could take him then lose him...'
"Sure!" answered Caller.
"Huh?" Geneva said, a confused look on her face, all too surprised Caller
agreed. After all, she had only suggested Lightning go as a joke!
"I'll be going now," Caller yelled, waving bye to Geneva in the same
instant. And off he went in
search of Lightning.
---
A few hours later Caller and Lightning were off to the
sea beyond the mount.
"I'm hhhuuunngry," whined Lightning, "I want some pink
fish!"
"Don't you ever get sick of PINK fish," Caller asked, exasperated.
"No," pouted Lightning.
"Wait! I saw one go that way heading toward home!"
Really?! yelled Lightning swimming to the area Caller pointed to, without
looking back.
'No,' thought Caller as
he sped off, leaving Lightning behind to find the pink fish that he made up.
After about 30 minutes of swimming he approach the side of the mountain and
decided to take a rest. He propped himself up on a smooth rock and surveyed
the area.
He saw a few minidragons- with their mates- in the distance and a few
felines- also with their mates- playing in the
tall grass. This caused him to feel lonely. Then he saw a merdragon in the
distance it was
about a mile away, swimming, his sharp vision indicated. He gently slid off
his rock
and gracefully sped toward the merdragon. As he got closer he saw it was a
Wave merdragon just like him! As he got even closer he decided it was female
from the way it was gazing.
He swam up and greeted her. " Hi, I'm Caller!"
"Hi, uh...Caller," the Wave female responded, curious as to why a complete
stranger had spoken to her. "I'm Icicle. Why have you come to me?"
'Icicle,' thought Caller, 'What the perfect name for the perfect wave...'
"I was searching for a suitable mate, and...well, I found you and just
thought...Wow!"
"Why all the way out here? I don't recognize you and I know every creature
that lives in this area withing a 10 kilometre radius!" Icicle asked, now
more suspicious than curious.
"I got tired of the pink-fish waters and wanted to explore... You don't seem
to be from around this place- surely you would have more friends at home?"
"I got bored of the Water beyond the mount and I wanted some peace and quiet
to think. Instead, you found me and now we're talking. I can't find peace
anywhere, can I?"
"Oh," Caller spoke, somewhat discouraged as he thought that she obviously
wasn't intrested.
"Hungry?" she asks suddenly, unexpectedly. "Wanna join me in snacking on
some squid? An oyster, maybe?"
"Sure," Caller answers. "I'd be delighted!"
She handed Caller a piece of squid wrapped in seaweed.
"Delicious," Caller commented. "A refreshing change from the pink-fish I'm
used to- even with the occasional blue fish."
"I don't particularly like squid, yet it is a nice change for me- I am used
to the hard mussels, and the occasional oyster or clam," Icicle told Caller
absentmindedly. Caller gazes into Icicle eyes and thinks he could never
leave her
because of the way she makes him feel.
"Icicle," Caller said abruptly.
"What?" she answers, smiling, knowing what he was going to say.
"Will you..." Caller began.
"Yes!" she answers, cutting him off. "But in truth, I'd like to know you
better before I introduce you to my bond."
"Well, I'm all for that," Caller agreed.
They spent the rest of the afternoon just quizzing each other, and by sunset
they felt as if they had known one another forever.
They swam near the surface of the gentle surf as the sped, creating waves as
they had once done when they were mere children, on the way to tell their
guardians, never loosening their embrace.
9 Wekes Later...
Icicle glowed with pride. Caller smiled in happiness. Swimming back, they
beheld their 'creation,' their eggs. They had just begun to hatch and
Caller was watching over them while Icicle would get all of them food.
Together, they swam to their bonds, letting both choose one of their
precious offspring to care for. They both knew they could trust their
guardians- Misty had been through this before already, Icicle knew. Taking
care not to let any harm come to their children, Icicle and Caller swam the
many wekes to the shore, where more trustworthy people would come to adopt
and care for their babies.
"I swear, if anyone abandons our children, or harms them, revenge shall be
mine!" Icicle was heard shouting once during their journey.
