"What else happened?" Dot asked Mouse who sat starring at the guardian and Dot.
"Nothin', sugah, ah told ya everythin'. Ah swear!" Mouse said to the two, who sat across from her.
Dot placed her head in her hands and rubbed her temples. She had been going for 36 millis straight. Her head ached trying to find some clue as to what could protect them from anymore Daemon attacks.
Daemon was now a very clear threat now. Mouse had told them that she would do anything to get Mainframe. She would never stop until she had won. Daemon sounded like a very dangerous, very insane virus.
In some ways Mouse's description of Daemon reminded Dot of Hexadecimal. But it looked as if Daemon would be a hundred times worse to deal with. They had no bargaining tool, the only thing they really knew about her was she was a super virus and that she had infected the entire Guardian Collective without much trouble.
How could they handle such a powerful virus? Dot asked herself that same question for what seemed like the thousandth time. They were such a inferior system compared to the Super Computer. Daemon had an army on her side.
Outwardly, she was calm though. She kept a level head, even through the thoughts that swirled through her mind. She would never let them control her, she was to controlled for that. Inside, she slowly calmed her thoughts and filed them away to worry of later.
She looked up at Mouse, she looked as if she had been through quite an ordeal. She hadn't changed since she had docked ship. Her face was such a pale shade of purple it had made Phong worried. There were dark circles under her eyes snd her clothes were dirty and torn. Her hair was a mess, which was very rare for Mouse.
Dot stood up and laid a hand on Mouse's shoulder, who had been leaning on her elbows.
"Why don't you go get some rest, we could all use some." Dot whispered to her.
Mouse smiled up at her, showing her perfect teeths in a grin. She stood up slowly and hugged Dot tight.
"Ah'm glad y'all made it." Mouse said quietly into her ear.
Dot nodded and hugged the hacker back. It had been close for awhile. If Mouse had stabilized that portal even the smallest bit, they would all be deleted or imprisoned. Dot could feel tears stinging in her eyes. She held back from letting them flow.
She hadn't cried since Matrix had arrived back home. She had tried not to, either. She hadn't ever been much of a crier and she didn't plan to start anytime soon. She didn't want to have to think that her army or someone thought she was weak, she had too many other things to worry about.
She moved out of the room, slowly. She had more work to do and no time to sleep. Her body cried out for her to get some rest. She didn't have time though. She never had time for anything like that.
She returned to her terminal, looking over reports and began to plan. Her mind wouldn't focus, she was too tired. Her eyes were blurring as she starred at the terminal. She felt her eyelids slowly close.
'I'll just rest for a moment' She thought to herself before she fell asleep.

Mercury entered the chamber, her head downcast. She was ashamed that she had failed Daemon. She approached the throne.
"My liege, I am sorry for my incompetence."
“Come, here.” Came the voice of the supervirus.
“Yes, my liege.” Responded Mercury as she made her way to the virus.
Mercury stared up into the young virus’ face. The scars that were the reason she hid from the light were pronounced. She bowed slightly to Daemon.
“I would like to ask a favor of you, Mercury.” Daemon said softly, her voice losing its haughty tone. Instead it became one of a teenager in great pain.
“Anything, my liege.” Mercury responded, troubled by the sound of Daemon’s voice.
“The guardians that have escaped my grasp will be coming for me. We lost many trying to go through the unstable portal. My forces are depleted. I fear if they come to battle, they will win.” Daemon said sadly, staring off into the distance.
“Never.” The guardian protested.
Daemon smiled slightly at the guardian’s smugness.
“Never the less, I would like to insure that I am not deleted completely if it comes to that.” Daemon said, turning back to her subject.
“Do it then.” Ordered Mercury, unaware if the tone of her voice.
Daemon raised an eyebrow at her tone, but complied. She extended her claws and shoved them into Mercury’s shoulder. A look of pain flashed across the guardian’s face but was replaced quickly by a blank stare.
Daemon released Mercury and retracted her claws.
“I have placed a line of my code inside you. It will wait, dormant inside your body. If I ever shall be deleted, this code will awaken and grow inside of you.” Daemon said as she fixed Mercury with a steady stare. “I will be reborn.”
"And the Net will be yours." Mercury said quietly. "I promise you."
In those few moments they had been connected Mercury had learened Daemon's entire history. She now understood why Daemon hated the guardians so much. So much pain for one so young.
She kneeled in front of the super virus and smiled.
