A parent's comments, live on NewsRadio 93.8FM, 6th August 2003

Transcript:

"I attended Prof Shichida's seminar and started J.Y. on The Shichida Method
two years ago when he was only two years old.

I do believe our brain is like a house and if we do renovate the house, which is our brain, by maximizing the processing mechanism. And once you manage this vital process, a parent can actually sit back and let the child run his own course.

So that's what I've just done. So, therefore, my kid can achieve a lot on his own, rather than me pushing him from behind and he goes one step forward whenever I give him a kick.

I don't know that he could actually handle this (primary 2 work). I understand that whenever we go through this. We have this programme in The Shichida Method, it's called rapid calculation programme and I discovered he has close to 100% accuracy in calculating complex equations like 2x3/5(6-3), this and this equals; and by giving him 2 answers, he could correctly point to the answer.

And so one day, my friend came from the states and tested him. She didn't actually believe that my kid could do it, but after the test, she confirmed that he can do it.

He could read at the age of 3. He can read 8-10 sentences a page and for a book of about 10 pages, and he has no problem with that.

He initiates his reading when he's awake early in the morning. He reads about 20-40 books a day. He makes his own decision on what he wants to read and some times, at night, I have to stop him from reading as we are ready to a sleep but he is not.

I've been through both (seminar and programme) and I realize after 2 years that we've been adopting this program, we realize that a lot of things is (achieved) through love; means I love my child very much and my child do love me a lot.

At the end of the day, it's the big heart and good personality and also the very good character that we are talking about, not only by looking at academic results.

I believe that my child in future will become a very useful person. He will have a very big heart and help people and contribute to society.

A lot of people might think that we've a bunch of 'Kiasu' parents but on the contrary, if we do give them a very advanced head-start, we are actually preparing them well for a race and we can actually save a lot of hardwork later.

At the end of the day, when you go to primary or secondary school, we have to start giving them endless tuition and they've no time to enjoy themselves. And now we are giving a very good environment and a lot of space to develop and explore their potential and to maximize them. I think it's really great.

I dream that my son will be able to excel as what he's doing right now and in future he would have gotten some scholarships and save me a lot of money."

Mother of J.Y., 4 years old

NB: After one year of using The Shichida Method, J.Y.'s IQ was measured at 166.
A year later, his IQ was measured at 193.
J.Y. is a Singaporean. Congratulations !!

Footnote:
The average IQ score of human beings is 100, with only 1% achieving an IQ of 140.
One of Prof Shichida's goal is to help a child attain a minimum IQ of 140
which most of his students do achieve, although this is not the main purpose of The Shichida Method.
IQ of 140 is the point where genius begins.
