Don

Don is the Parish MC (Master of Ceremonies) a position he has held for approximately sixteen years.

He was born in Dundee, Tayside (formerly Angus), Scotland, in the Parish of St. Clement on 14th June 1941, and baptised at St. Mary's (Our Lady of Victories) Forebank, Dundee.

Of Irish Catholic descent on his mothers side and Scottish Protestant descent on his fathers side. Don was educated by the Sisters of Mercy at St. Mary's Infant school and by the Marist Brothers at St.Mary's Junior School and later St. John's Junior Secondary School.

For the Sisters of Mercy, the Marist Brothers and the Priests of the Parish eternal thanks is due to Almighty God for their unswerving devotion to education and the unselfish care and love they bestowed on their pupils.

It was in this atmosphere that Don received his First Holy Communion and was sometime later confirmed by the late Rt. Rev Bishop Scanlon, Bishop of Dunkeld.

Don finished his Secondary School education at St. John's Junior Secondary School, Tay Street, Dundee again under the care and guidance of the Marist Brothers.

For a short period, Don was privileged to sing in the School Choir at both St. Mary's (Our Lady of Victories),Forebank and St. Andrew's Cathedral, Dundee.

Don joined the Parish of St. Thomas More c1983 and served under three Parish Priests namely, Fr. John Garret, Fr.John Timmins and Fr. Patrick Bennett (the present parish priest) On the retirement of the late Eric Ledwidge, of happy memory, Don was appointed Parish Master of Ceremonies for St. Thomas More. Later, when the position of MC for St. Luke with St. James became vacant, Don was asked to assume this position also and continues in both these positions by the grace of God, to the present day.
