Welcome to the Final Fantasy characters section. Here you'll find a list of the characters you can choose from in the beginning of the game and their abilities.
Characters
Black Belt
One of the most powerful attackers in the game. He's best when he's not equipped with weapons. They actually decrease his Attack. Their HP is usually second only to the Fighter. Turns into Master after Bahamut.
Black Mage
Can use all Black magic spells. Even worse at fighting than the White Mage. Turns into Black Wizard after Bahamut.
Black Wizard
Can use all Black magic spells. Changes from Black Mage.
Fighter
Can use the best weapons and armor in the game. They usually have the most HP. Turns into Knight after Bahamut.
Knight
Can equip all the best weapons and armor in the game, as well as use some early White magic spells. Changes from Fighter.
Master
Just like the Black Belt, only stronger. Changes from Black Belt.
Ninja
Can equip more weapons and armor than the Thief, as well as use some White magic. Changes from Thief.
Red Mage
Can learn both White and Black magic, and they can fight fairly well. The Red Mage, however, can't learn some of the most powerful spells. Turns into Red Wizard after Bahamut.
Red Wizard
Can use more White and Black magic spells than the Red Mage. Changes from Red Mage.
Thief
Not as strong as Fighters and can't use as many weapons, but they have the highest Agility. Turns into Ninja after Bahamut.
White Mage
Can use all White magic spells. However, the White Mage is a poor Fighter. Turns into White Wizard after Bahamut.
White Wizard
Can use all White magic spells. Changes from White Mage.
