Zora Neal Hurston : How It Feels to Be Colored Me

Thesis: Though ones enivronment can affect their self-image and how others might perceive them, discrimination and tough times does not always mean that one will turn out bitter.

* Hurston is not bitter towards slavery, but she still feels that it was not right, yet she know it was not under her control

*Hurston feels above the ignorance of society (ie. that people steroetype because of race, sex etc.)

*Hurston feels that her race does not affect the person that she is, yet if affects the way that people see her
