Christmas Poem

by Peggy and Loren

Angels sang
and shepherds heard
the voices from heaven above
that spoke of joy and peace and love.
In the sky
placed by God Himself
was a star that brightly shined.
Those who saw, followed
led by the Spirit.
The radiance, everflowing, glowed
with the love of God,
Father of the child foreordained to try
the hearts, souls and spirits of mankind…
…and to die.
Yet grace, mercy and love were with Him
as He grew to a man who is was and will be the Most High,
Emmanuel, Counselor, Wonderful, Jesus.
Sent to earth to dwell amongst the men He came to save.
Sent by God to teach.
Sent to teach you of what is and what will be
if you follow.
Follow His light and trod the narrow way He walked.

His mother Mary,
was blest by God.
An angel from heaven above
spoke of Him that was and is and will be.
This day
not so long ago, for time is always now
and He is here for each to come,
as His Father whom He knew
was the author of life;
His, yours and mine; of all

So much was His love
a day was set aside
for the world
to be in remembrance
of the lessons
early learned
early taught.
Man did this and marked the day
of the birth of our Lord,
Our Lord, come in flesh as Life everlasting
never departing from each in faith and grace.

Jesus, our deliverer
whose life would divide
for He said, “I come not to bring peace,
but division - of the flock.”
Many do not understand,
even to this day
it is sad to say.

Jesus, grew strong
waxed strong
in His Father’s sight and might
and wisdom and knowledge and love.
The sheep of His pasture,
are as the flocks of the shepherds;
the flocks know their master’s voice.
They rejoice when they hear His voice,
when He calls them home.
He calls them home, to the stall
in Bethlehem where He was born
that fateful and glorious night;
with the animals around Him,
while He lay in the manger.
He was a stranger to this world,
but to a few,
Mary and Joseph looked on
as wise men came and lay gifts at His feet.

Angels sang
in the realms of glory
their love and adoration of God the Son.
Angels sang
praises most high
over the stable that night,
the place of our Savior’s birth.
In the straw
wrapped in clothes
while those present paid homage to Him,
lay the little Lord Jesus
the only begotten Son of God.
Born so that whosoever would believe,
Believe in His name,
Believe in His life,
Believe in His death,
Believe in His Life everlasting;
born that they will never perish
but have life everlasting.

That night
two thousand years ago
was born a child.
This day
Now
Here
Today
is born a child
in your heart and spirit and soul.
Take a moment and let Him in.
Let Him be born again in your life
this year, for everyday
not just one time one day each year;
for He is here.

A WORD FOR TODAY
