History
Kessel was taken by the Draconis Combine from the Lyran Commonwealth. It was made a prefecture capital at the start of the third Succesion War. It's purpose was to establish it's questionable hold on the planet.

Economy
Kessel is heavily industrialized. Diverse Optics Incorporated produces the Diverse Optics Type 20 (medium laser), 30 (large laser), 30X (ER large laser), 10P (small puls laser), and 20P (medium pulse laser)on planet.

Climate
Kessel is polluted. industry has contaminated water tainted land and poisoned the air.

Martial Information
Many underground forces are at work on Kessel. Unable to stand being under Combine rule, they wish to rejoint the Lyrans. They make guerilla strikes on military installations. The biggest group is the Kessel Freedom Fighters.
