This new and improved goliath is a great addition to the Terran army. It's air attack is its greatest asset. Not only does the goliath get +4 damage to its air attack, it also has a huge range once you decide to upgrade them.(Brood War Enhancements)
Goliaths are very cheap, yet they have only one role, air control. They are the best unit in the game to stop air units, meaning they can stop mass scouts, muta/guardians, or wraiths. However the best use for them if to prevent drops, especially overlord drops. Using them on island maps is a must, since they can cover your island better than a turret, and are mobile making them better than turrets against disruption web. Use goliaths also to hold the high ground from attempted drops, since your bunker/tank can hold the choke point.
You should definately upgrade both the range and attack of the goliath. Afterwards, goliaths can destroy even battle cruisers and carriers. Also they can be repaired which makes them very durable.
