History of the Scrambler.
The 6 wheel drive amphibious Scrambler fist appeared on the market around 1968. It was produced Action Age Inc., in Ohio. In 1969 there was one model available, but by 1970 there were 6 differing models for sale. The first model produced had a 7 h.p. Briggs & Stratton 4 stroke motor, hydraulic clutch(s), hydraulic disc breaks, and 6 independent axles. The tires were the commonly used "terra" flotation tires with a chevron pattern. By the late seventies, the company had all but closed it's doors along with most of the ATV manufactures. Action Age's claim to fame came in the early 70's when the popular TV show, The Banana Splits, used the Scrambler in several of it's episodes (so I'm told).

This picture from 1969 shows the Scrambler climbing up an incline. Note the rear passenger. The scrambler was one of the only 6 wheelers at that time to have front and back seats instead of benches (except mine, which has both :) |
| This picture is from 1970. Note the gas tank was located in the front, which is different than the earlier version. This unit was also equiped with a steering wheel vs the standard stick control. | ![]() |
