Creation of surfaces

Creation of surfaces is the most important step since this is the final output. For creation of surfaces a lot of options are there. Some of them are described here

Surface from cloud

Selected cloud can be used for creating surfaces. Different options available are

Surface from cloud and curves

It is used to create a four-sided B-spline surface. The surface is generated from four curves and point cloud data within those curves.

Surface using curves

Surfaces can also be created from curves. The following options are found in creating surfaces using curves

Surface with other surfaces

Surfaces can also be created using already existing surfaces. The following options are found under creating surfaces using existing surfaces

Constructing a surface

Basic surface shapes can be constructed. In this surfaces are created not by point cloud or curves but by defining some values. Following options are available under this

Interrogation and Modification

To obtain the information about the surface several options has been provided. These entries can be found under the interrogation menu. Surface-Cloud difference is used for inspecting the quality of the surface. This is the distance between the point and closest point on the surface. The line segments are color-coded. Surface-Surface difference can also be computed. Control plots can be plotted to check the quality of the surface. Reflectance plot is for calculating and displaying a specified number of contours of constant reflectance on the selected surface. Multisurface continuity can be checked.

Along with the interrogating surfaces in a variety of ways, surfaces can be modified by editing, extending, stitching, and trimming, The effect of modification can be immediately visualized through plots. In order to obtain the information about surfaces in relation to other objects, different ways are provided. Distances and angles between surface and curve or between surface and plane can be measured.

Transition surfaces

Existing surfaces can be combined into a single blended surface or into a collection of smoothly transitioned surfaces. Merge surfaces, fillets can be created. 3/5 sided holes can be filled. During stitching of surfaces, continuity is defined. Global stitch is for stitching a set of simultaneously. Surfaces can be intersected and trimmed.
