Once the processing of point cloud data is over, next step is to create
curves. Following methods are there for creating curves
3D Curves from Point Cloud
Lot of flexibility is there for creating 3D curves from point cloud. Some of them are
Following options are available for generating 3D curves from surfaces
Constructing a curve is different from creation of curve. In constructing curves, input for creating curves is given by the user. B-splines screen B-splines, polylines, lines, circles, and arcs etc. can be constructed.
Creating Curves with Curves
Curves can be created with help of already existing curves. Following options are available for creating curves with curves
Control plot, curve-cloud difference, curve-curve difference, curvature plot etc. can be interrogated. Already created curves can be modified. Gaussian like filter is used to smoothen the curve. It reduces the magnitude of curvature in the selected region. Unwanted bumps or dents can be removed by inflection removal. A curve can be reparametrized to user defined number of control points. The direction of curve can be reversed and knots can be inserted or removed.
Transition Curves
Merge curves can be created in between two existing curves. Merge curves will have tangent continuity with both the curves. Fillets can also be generated between two curves, meeting each of them with tangent continuity.
Stitching of two curves create a composite curves or a complete, smooth, continuous curve network by modifying individual curve. During stitching continuity is defined.
