Pacifish

Pacifish... where do I begin? This band has made some history. Their dreamy layers O guitar lounge just breaks your heart and upbeat pop songs get your feet tapping, not to mention the veluptiuous female vocals. It all began with two guys back in 1995, Scott and Ben. They had written a lot of songs and had a drummer named John play as their temporary drummer. Then they met a drummer named Charlie who just started going to Ben's school that year and asked him if he would like to play for Pacifish. They played a few songs for him and he caught on so quick that they went ahead and recorded a ruff demo that same practice with Scott doing bass and vocals and Ben on lead guitar. Soon after they had their first gig at a coffee house called the Firehouse. The response was surprisingly big. Scott then realized that bass wasn't where his heart was and switched to guitar and they became bassless for several of the following shows but still produced that same dreamy sound.

After hearing the vocal talents of a friend from school named Stephanie one day, they immediately asked her to take over as lead vocalist of Pacifish. Though hesitant and having not had much experience singing before an audience, she accepted. Scott also asked a friend from college named Jamie to take over as bassist to complete the band and he accepted. And so with just enough practices, as a full band, to pull off a show they played their first full band gig at a coffee house, and the response was even bigger.

They soon recorded a real studio demo that they would sent off to a record label that was interested. There was no response. The demo was released independently in '96 in the local area. But after only two or three more shows as a full band, Pacifish was layed to rest. There were no hard feelings, it was just something that they knew would happen someday. Come 1998, 3 Twelve Records, Charlie's label, rerelased their 8 song EP and it's bringing back memories to all the members of the days when life was a bit simpler. Long live Pacifish, you are missed.....
