Their final streak landed them in the driveway. Long and tree-lined, the path led up to a house with attached garage. Automatically Cam looked around for the others. They should have been there by now. Hunter and he were late, as usual. Hunter was not the easiest person to get moving.
Shane was skateboarding in the street, making large loops around the circle near the end. Dustin and Marah were in the front yard, playing with several dogs. He recognized Waldo, Moon, and Ness, so he assumed the other two dogs belonged to the owners of the house.
As they approached the house, Cam noticed the "Parrothead crossing" sign off to the side. He nudged Hunter and nodded at the sign. Hunter smirked back at him.
Ashley greeted them from her seat on the front porch. "Hey guys! They're setting things up in the backyard."
"Uh huh. How could you tell?" Hunter responded with a typically Hunter-ish sarcastic comment. Cam looked up and saw why. It was hard to miss the impressively large WildZords behind the house.
Ashley just retorted back, "Funny. You know, you made Adri's most hated Ranger list faster than anyone. Well except for one."
Hunter looked ready to respond, but the other resident of the porch stopped him. "You guys better hope you don't wake them up," Cassie injected. Ashley and she were rocking the sleeping infant twins. Jetson sat nearby, guarding as usual.
Cam tried to avoid any further arguments by changing the subject. "So Adri's having the birthday party at a stranger's house?"
"Not a stranger," Marah corrected, walking toward the porch. Dustin, dogs in tow, was not far behind. "Starhawk is house-sitting here right now."
Adrienne wandered around the side of the house then, fiddling with the deflated balloon in her hands. "Okay, I think things are almost ready."
"Shouldn't she be here by now?" Cam asked abruptly. Adrienne turned to stare at him, perplexed.
"Yeah, dude, are you sure this is where she's house-sitting?" Dustin added.
"I think it is," she scratched her head and looked around. "But if she can't keep track, then how can I?"
The sound of skateboard wheels turned their attention back to the driveway. Shane stopped quickly, kicking his board up to grab it in one hand. "Dude, we got incoming. And it's not her."
At the foot of the hill a car turned into the driveway.
"Huh, I wonder if she's even house-sitting this week," Adrienne mused. "Oh well. Everyone grab something and scram!" And she turned to leave.
"How are we supposed to move an entire party in less than a minute?" Hunter demanded.
She stopped to glare at Hunter. Purely out of principle. Only for him would she have wasted those precious seconds. "You're a Ranger. And a ninja. You'll think of something." She gave him an evil grin, then ran off with her balloon, disappearing into the trees.
Hunter growled, as the others streaked to the backyard.
