Parents Of Power

"Okay, so it wasn't a stork.
Could you be a little more specific?"

Several people have asked me who exactly these kids are. Jonathon would say, "Who are you? Who am I? Who are we, as a people? That's what I ask myself." But inasmuch as familial ties can tell you something about a person's identity, I do have brief family summaries for each of the main characters and I'm happy to share them.

Basically, these are the fictional children of real and original "Power Rangers" characters. This history, both of the kids themselves and of their parents, is drawn from the First series (Kerovan, Aquitian, and Elisian families) and the Wedding series (Ninja families). These are also things that I've projected into the future for those series, whether they've been/will be written or not.

In other words, I made all this up. There's nothing about any of these kids that's remotely "canon," and if you're looking for familiar faces I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Still, the idea of seeing how it all continues appeals to me, so I write on.

Jenni and Terra:
Saryn and Cassie Chan were married in the fall of 1998 and moved to Elisia six months later. Cassie gave birth to girl twins in the spring of 2000. The older twin was named Terra, for Cassie's planet of origin. There were some troubled moments following the birth of the younger twin during which no one was certain she would live. Cassie saw the ghost of Saryn's former girlfriend, a woman whose spirit had protected both Saryn and Cassie in the past, and when the younger twin lived she was named Jenni in honor of the family's guardian angel.

Hope and Kae:
Ashley Hammond moved to KO-35 with Andros, Zhane, and Kerone in 1999. She and Kerone adopted a refugee from another dimension during the summer of 2000. The boy's only known designation prior to his arrival on KO-35 was "Five," which was possibly a reference to his age at the time and seemed inappropriate for a child. He was nicknamed "K" and then given the name Kae before he was adopted. Ashley, Andros, Zhane, and Kerone were married in the spring of 2001, and Ashley gave birth to a daughter named Hope the following winter.

Roris and Coral:
Aura and Carlos Vargas Simione were married in 2001 and settled in Coralside on Aquitar. After extensive research, testing, and several failed attempts, a hybrid baby was conceived in the laboratory and came to term in 2003. The girl was named Coral, according to Aura's wish. Two years later, a second baby was born, and though his genetic structure was more heavily Aquitian than his sister's, his cultural influences were more of Earth. The boy was named Auroris, in the familial tradition of Aura's culture.

Kechana:
Amanda, lead singer of "The Skywalkers," left Earth in 1999 and married an Eltaran man named Bgoua in 2003. Bgoua's sister gave birth to a child she couldn't raise, and Amanda's cousin, Billy Cranston, happened to know of a couple looking to adopt. Although interplanetary adoption wasn't common, family ties and the involvement of a Ranger team superseded practical and cultural concerns. Born on Eltare, Kechana was raised on Aquitar by her adoptive parents, Cetaci and Delphinius.

Michiko, Hanoi, and Kevin:
Tori Hanson and Blake Bradley were married in the summer of 2007, and they had a son named Kevin in 2009. Blake's adopted brother, Hunter, married Cam Watanabe in 2008. Hunter and Cam fostered two children, a sister and brother, before adopting them and raising them as their own. Michiko was six years old when she and her two-year-old brother, Hanoi, first came to live with the Watanabes.

Idle Commentary:
It might be worth noting that "Children Of Power" and "Interstellar Ninja" take place in 2022. Michiko is 19, and Jenni is 22 (at least by our standards). Hope is 20, Kae is 27, and Roris is only 17 (again, by our standards--he's actually 16 on Aquitar, having just entered legal adulthood on his planet). I have no idea how old Kechana is, so if it's important, make up any age that seems comfortable to you. And by the way, no, she is not having an affair with Hope.

Or maybe she is, how do I know. I suppose it would explain a few things.
