From May 97 to December 97 (7 months)
Parkway Managed Care Pte Ltd., Singapore
(Group of Mount Elizabeth Hospital)
Role: System Analyst

This is a concern, ISD department for the top 3 hospitals of Singapore. They are Mount Elizabeth+ Gleneagles+East Shore. Parkway is a medicare group, provides medicare solution to the members of the major companies in Singapore. These medicare members can avail medical treatment from any of the registered clinics in Singapore. My system monitors cash flow between parkway, members and clinics. It maintains transactions of subscription details from the client members, similarly payment of service charges to clinics. There are about 50 clients, 23000 members and 1000 private clinics have involved in this scheme.

Project: PATIENTS CONSULTATION ENTRY MODULE
ONLINE INSURANCE CLAIMS APPLICATION THRU INTERNET
Softwares: Visualbasic 5.0, TrueGrid 5.0, Active X document

This module created specifically for the clinics who are involved in our medicare scheme. This is a special VB based package to be utilised in most of the member clinics. It facilitates to key in all the patient details and their necessary treatment details. Daily transactions will be transferred over internet using this ActiveX (VB) application. Transactions are submitted by the clinics to parkway to seek medical claim reimbursement. It facilitates to have one standard package in all the clinics, maintains standard format of data, so as to ensure easy data maintenance between clinics and us and vice versa. Any upgradation in the package can be easily distributed to all the clinics via internet. All powerful innovative new enhancements provided to survive in the fast changing computer industry. Mainly, it reduces most of the paper work, reduces network traffic. Because internet way data transfer is a cheaper and easier than traditional type of data transfer methods. The submitted data would be downloaded by Parkway Server (MS-SQL) for validation process.

Implementation of SMARTCARD is also designed, it is to store relevant clinic information and patient information in the card, so that this card can be used anywhere, anytime and all the information required can be read immediately.

Project: HOSPITAL FINANCE ANALYSES
Softwares: MS-SQL Server on Windows-NT

My prime duty was trouble-shooting. Trouble-shooting always involves high risk and responsibility. Because dealing with the Online system is a critical profession. I have concentrated mainly on database design, data modeling, database growth analysis and system performance.

Earlier this system would take longer execution time. Due to various reasons viz., improper database design and index method, lack of database triggers and self referential integrity, handling with the data having large number of rows and large row size etc. Now all these have been eliminated by my expertise knowledge and experience. I have used various methods:- removing inconsistency of data by data normalization, utilising optimal query plan, analyzing and releasing of lock conflicts, substituting better index method etc. Raising of intelligent queries tuned up the system performance best. It is needless to say that it requires special skill in SQL handles.

Besides, I have re-engineered the existing program codes. Data maintenance has been followed for client details, member details, clinic details, member episode details, drug details, diagnosis details, leave details etc. Also prepared variety of reports to suit the office needs.
