The Borg maturation chamber is used for infant drones to fully grow without the need of supervision. After the drone has been in the chamber for the humanoid equivalent of 20 months (but an actual time of 72 hours) it is released and enabled to regenerate with the collective till it has matured into the humanoid equivalent of 3240 months (time equivalent of 96 hours). After the drone is fully matured it awaits its instructions from the collective.
