Preface

I am writing this play since the summer of 1995, when I offered this project to the National Theatre in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia just came through its first election in 20 years. The name of Haile Sellassie still is under the silent ban.

"Sellassie" in Amharic means "Trinity" and there are three of them on stage: boy, man and very old man. The three stage of one's life.

The process and the final show (webcast) are different in nature than the usual script writing. For example, the linear narrative has "numbered" scenes, when after first act comes the second... The hyper-text has virtical structure, when you can read the end first. I experienced this new challenge, when I tried to organized H.I.M. as a manuscript with a reversed chronology (see WeBiography).
