Closing ------------------------ This FAQ is for Secret of Evermore. It tells where to go, what to do, and how to kill bosses. I'll refer to the dog as "the dog". Always let your dog (or you) be at his full attack power at every boss. If you choose to use a spell other than Fireball (Antiqua and up), that's fine with me. If you have any comments or questions, e-mail me at no024@aol.com. ------------------------ Version History Ver. 1.0: The Secret of Evermore FAQ, a simple walkthrough to the game. Ver. 1.6: The Secret of Evermore FAQ, a more complex walkthrough, more Omnitopia, boss list. ------------------------ Credit goes to: BRUTAL 10 (brutal10@aol.com) for posting lotsa alchemy formulas (in one list) in the Secret of Evermore folder in Gamewiz GWS Wizard (gwswizard@aol.com) because without him, would we even have a Wizard's FAQ Warehouse? Dr Gamewiz (drgamewiz@aol.com) because he's the Doc, and if he wasn't here, where would we post our tips, codes, etc.? ------------------------ Prologue (Note: You can skip the Prologue by hitting a button during the beginning of it.) In Omnitopia, follow Carltron to the back room. Open the container by pressing B. When the GuardBots come, aim, wait for %100, and fire. You can't die (yet). When they're destroyed, go down into the Escape Pod. ------------------------ I. Prehistoria When the dog fetches the Bone Crusher, you'll have your first weapon. Go north, and let the dog attack, but make sure you do too. When you get to the Raptor Clearing, stay at the lower end of the screen, when a Raptor comes, attack it until it goes back into a bush, and wait for the next to come. It's okay if you die here, you'll be sent to the village either way. Fire Eye's Village Explore around, and buy the best armor, handgear, and headgear for yourself, and the best collar for the dog. A fun suggestion is to talk to people, then do it using the dog. After you talk to Fire Eyes and get Flash, go to the Armor Shop and keep going left through jungle and learn Defend, then go east to the Quicksand Fields. Jump into the very first whirlpool, and buy anything at the store. Weave your way around the pools avoiding whirlpools until you get to the Bugmuck. Bugmuck Enter the first cave you see, and learn Hard Ball. Leave, and walk to the big bug (you'll know what it is once you see it). Go in and use trial and error to find the door at the end. In the second chamber, go the first path left, then down, then right, down, left, and keep going for a Biscuit. Go up until you get to Thraxx. Use Flash or Hard Ball repeatedly on the Thraxx's Heart, until you run out of Flashes and Hard Balls, or until it's destroyed. If it's still alive, go to the rib cage, and whack it open. Step in, and attack the heart. Repeat. When it's destroyed, take the Spider's Claw, cut the bag, and Strong Heart will come out. Leave, and go to the upper left, and up. Go to right instead of left, and you'll find a man who'll give you Acid Rain. Return to the village, and go south to Strong Heart's hut, and he'll give you Cure. Go to Fire Eyes, and she'll tell what's next. Volcano Right before the volcano is the Mammoth Graveyard. You have to fight four Vipers and one Viper Commander. After you do that, go through the gate to the volcano. Go north, until you get to the cliffs. Cut the bushes, and step on the previously hidden tile. Go up and down using tiles and doors, until you get to the crater. The person will give you Levitate and send you to the bogs east of the volcano. Go there. Bogs Make your way through the bogs, killing Frippoes along the way to create bridges, until you get to Blimp's Hut. Kill Salabog by standing on the bridge closest to it, and when it comes down, whack it! Repeat until dead. Blimp will be so grateful, he'll give you a Mud Pepper. Return to the volcano, and use Levitate on the rock. Volcano Interior Inside the volcano, get Mud Peppers, and move the rocks (also try pushing rocks off of ledges), until you get to the Water Room. Go through the left passageway, and go up, then left, then up, then all the way left, then down, and wait. Hit the switch. Go into the right passageway, and just wait. You can now go to Magmar. Use Flash on Magmar a lot and you should kill him. ------------------------ II. Antiqua Crustacia Go buy the best stuff, and go east, and through the caves to Blimp's Cave (he was also blasted out of Prehistoria). Get Crush and Mud Peppers from him and go north. Skip the boat, and just keep on, keep on, keep on, running until you get to Nobilia. Nobilia Market (This is just a guide of what you should do, it's not vital and takes a while) Go to the very top of the market, and buy lotsa rice from the woman. Also buy not-quite-as-much spice from the man there. Go to the entrance, and go down to the first place you see. Buy beads. Go down, right, and up to find the chicken lady. Buy two chickens. Make sure you still have lotsa rice, if not, buy more. Return to the rice woman and go down to the first store. Buy a Golden Jackal. Get more spice/chickens. Go to the bead guy, and go up-right to the woman with bottles of perfume on the counter. Buy 5 perfumes. Go to the Town Square and down to a door. Follow the spider, and buy a couple Atlas Amulets. Go left and leave. Buy a Jeweled Scarab and 2 Limestone Tablets. Return to the chicken lady, go right, then up 'til you get to a door, go left from the door and buy a couple of tapestries. Go to the chicken lady, and directly down until the bottom of the market. The store up and left sells Moxa Sticks. Buy one! It enhances your healing stuff. Buy a Sun Stone directly left of the Moxa Stick store. Go up from the Sun Stone store to buy a Rubyheart. Return to the stick store, and go right to the goat. The store next to the one there sells Silver Sheaths. Buy one. Choose now: Stronger Swords or higher Defense. If you choose defense, go to the store three right from the Golden Jackal shop, and trade the Sheath for Armor Polish. Go between the Sun Stone and Rubyheart stores, then go left to imports. Buy a Jade Disk of Emperor Qi. Go buy a Golden Jackal and a Jeweled Scarab. Go to the Town Square and back to the Market. Repeat until the meeting. Important Stuff you should have from the Market: Moxa Stick Sun Stone Rubyheart Silver Sheath/Armor Polish Jade Disk Golden Jackal Jeweled Scarab Tapestry Spice Rice Colosseum In the Room-In-Which-You-Are-Being-Held, open the 2 pots to get a Stone Vest and a Petal. Go as far right as you can, and you'll enter a secret passage. Go through it and get 6 more goodies. Leave via the gate, and go as far left as you can. This is the safe spot. If a spear is at level 2 or higher, read on. If it's not at level 2 or higher, skip to Colosseum 2. When Vigor comes near, hurl your spear at him. Repeat until dead. Colosseum 2 When Vigor comes, wait until he turns around, then attack him with your strongest physical attack. After you win the Colosseum, go to the big rock in front of it. Use Levitate on it, and Tiny will come. Pay him a Tapestry and he'll throw it. It'll come in handy later. Return to the market and go one store right of the Rubyheart shop. Buy the helmet. Go to the rice place and make sure you have lotsa rice. Go right next to the Golden Jackal store and buy lotsa Amulets of Annihilation. Leave Nobilia via ferry and go west to the river. Have the dog jump over the bridge and step on the platform. Now you can get across. Hall of Collosia After you talk to Horace and Madronius, leave Horace's Camp to the right. Go up to the Chasm. Use Revealer and see the bridge. Go north to the Hall. Go north to the panels. Use Revealer on each to form a bridge. Go save (right), and hit the button on the left side. Go to the now open door and search through the area for switches. Once you leave there, go to the lower-right room (If you get stuck and can't get back, walk to where the bridge was, and walk around that spot until you hurl the spear). If it's not open, return to the other one and continue looking for the switch. The Minitaur is simple. Set Dog Attack on high and use your best attacks, and if an alchemy formula's at good levels, use that too. Once you beat him, go to the lower-left room. The puzzle actually pretty simple. Hit the farthest one first, the middle one second, and the third one last. You should be able to figure out how to get to the first two (virtually any combanation will do it). Go through and find the switch. The last area can be the hardest yet easiest. Go through as far as you can. When you beat the Mad Monk, you get the Bronze Spear. Go to the left side of the room with 4 large pillars. Push on the left wall between two more pillars. You'll go through a secret passageway until you meet a man who teaches you Fireball (4x as good as Flash). Make sure to power it up. Return to the main room and face the north wall. You'll go to the Megataur use a powered up Fireball and you'll beat him in no time. Great Pyramid Stand on the switch next to the gate outside of the Pyramid. Guide the dog inside the gate and over the stream. Lead the boy up the stairs and inside the second floor. Go through (but not down, yet) and collect stuff, and when you're ready, go up. Go down the front and enter. Go through at this section of the second floor (If you find gates, use the dog to open it with switches) until you get to the Sons of Anhur. Use a powered up spear (DON'T GO BACK!!! OR ELSE!!!) and when you win, you'll get the Bronze Axe which breaks through all those annoying rock doors. Go right to the gate. Avoid the Stone Cobras and open the small room. Get the spell for Horace and save. Go rescue the dog by breaking another wall. Go back up and open the top of the Pyramid by having each of you step on a switch. Just kill Rimsala like the Megataur. Remember those Rock Walls in the camp area? Break through them with the axe. Also, break through the wall in front of the cave on the west bank of the river and learn Drain. Return to Nobilia. Kill Aegis with the Fireball attacks (you should always have lotsa brimstone and ash for this). Trade your Silver Sheath for Armor Polish. Trade the Moxa Stick for a Silver Sheath. Return to the Drain Cave and learn Double Drain. Go north of Horace's Camp and down the pit. Path to Gothica Make your way through the cave maze (aren't you sick of all these mazes?) using transporters until you get to Aquagoth. Use Fireball on it (not the tentacles) and you'll win. ------------------------ III. Gothica Ivor Tower Buy stuff using your goods, then go left and buy all treasures, etc. Search inside and out (and behind) houses for goodies, until you get to Lance's (his family will keep mentioning him). Go upstairs, but don't take the chests. He'll give you Lance. Go to the Exhibition and go in. In the castle, manuver the dog to the upper left balcony room. Search through the area until you hear a BLEEP! That means you're getting close to the woman. She'll give you the key. Then leave the dark area and go to the upper left vent. Go left one room and into the vent. Now you can get to the right balcony. You should be able to find the way back to the main room from here. When you get to the end of the sewers, don't leave. Instead, go back and repeatedly (tap A) go right (not down) until you see a man. He teaches Corrosion. Unlock locked doors with the Queen's Key and get chests, then trade it for Fire Power. Chessboard/Dark Forest Walk around the Hedge Maze in a clockwise motion until you get to the Chessboard. Just attack the Footknight with weapons, then go down. In the forest, go only left and down until you find a man who teaches you One-Up. Now try to go back the way you came. If you see a blue goblin (it could be hard) in a tree branch, you're going the right way. Note: He could be hidden by leaves. When you fight Bad Boy, just attack and he'll crumble soon. Repeat twice. Continue following the Blue Goblin until you get to Timberdrake. Attack with Fireball. Leave and enter the Ebon Keep sewers until you find your way into the dungeon. Ebon Keep After the sewers, explore the town (inside, out, and behind), learn Regrowth, and find Cecil (from FFII) to get the Bazooka. Go find Verminator in the castle. Use the Fireball attack on him (should be at level 3-4+ now). Go up the tower to Camillia's Room. Talk to her then go to Tinker's Tower. Read the book on his desk and in his bookcase for Explosion and Slow Burn. Find Naris in the castle and guess the number of marbles in his hand. If you guess right, you get Super Heal. If you guess wrong, come back later. Gomi's Tower Break through the barrier in front of the sewers with the Knight Basher. Go north and skip the first ladder complex (unless you want treasure) and go to the second and take the elevator up. To beat Gomi's Dragon (The name eludes me), just use Fireball. Ivor Tower Revisited Go through the Ivor Tower sewers and go to the Puppet Show off of the Throne Room. Kill Mungola with Fireball shots. After you get the Windwalker from Tinker, go to Nobilia into the palace and find Horace for Barrier. Prehistoria Revisited Go to Strong Heart's Hut for Miracle Cure. Now go to the Bugmuck and fight Choloptera where Thraxx was. Kill it using Fireball (4-5+). Go to the volcano crater where the alchemist was. Now you have the parts. Go south of the Pyramid to Pyramid Extension. Levitate the rock, have your dog step on one tile, and you step on the last. Go to Tiny's Room and keep using the same teleporter and you'll finally reach Tiny. He'll wallow in shame and you'll get the Diamond Eyes. Take all the parts to Tinker and you're off to Omnitopia. ------------------------ IV. Omnitopia Rescue the Guardbot in the second cell and get the Neutron Blade. Then return to the junkyard and talk to her partner, and he'll give you Reflect. Go to Sector A1, and use the dog to destroy spheres in these hallways: A1-A2 A2-B2 B2-C2 C2-C1 D1-every other D and C areas Go to C2 and go down and hit the switch. Go to C1 and go through. Go to the Control Room and for the Alarm Room: 3,2,2, turn Greenhouse Lights Off, and Storage Room Lights On. Go to the Storage Room and open all of the containers. Go to the Alarm Room and then through the Greenhouse. Now you can meet Professor Ruffleburg and learn and buy some good stuff. Use all of your Call-Ups. Go to the Chessboard and into the second staircase and get the energy core and go down more. Learn Force Field and Stop. Go to Ebon Keep and read the Explosion Book. Now you know Nitro. Return to the Junkyard and get ready to face the conclusion. The End Destroy the Fans and Speakers, and hit the switches. Destroy Raptors, Eye of Rimsalas, Bad Boy, Dark Toaster, Ultra Magmar, and Carltron's Robot. Don't ever destroy a cleaning robot or you'll have to fight a Death Spider. To beat the Dark Toaster, use Energize on the dog and use level 3 attack on it. For Ultra Magmar, beat him using Fireball. For Carltron's Robot, charge up and attack from the side. Move to the other side and repeat. After you beat all of these, you win the game! Congratulations! ------------------------ V.
