Extra-Dimensional Magic Items

The following is an expanded list of the possible effects of placing an extra dimensional space inside another extra dimensional space.

  1. Outer/Inner/Both bag contents lost.
  2. Outer/Inner/Both bag contents lost and bag becomes non magical.
  3. Inner bag ruptures and throws contents into outer bag which wont rupture if it has enough capacity for contents of inner bag and those it is currently holding.
  4. Inner bag becomes non magical and throws contents out onto the prime.
  5. Outer bag becomes non magical and throws contents including inner bag onto the prime.
  6. Outer/Inner/Both bags rupture sucking in all loose objects within a 10' radius (roll dex at minus 0-10 depending upon the distance from the epicentre to not be sucked).
  7. Outer/Inner/Both bags explode doing 10D6 damage minus 1D6 per foot from the epicentre to all within 10' radius of the bag (multiply damage by how full the bag was when it exploded). Non magical objects in the bag are destroyed/buggered by the explosion, magic items save vs crushing blow to not be destroyed.
  8. Outer/Inner/Both compleately lost in the void.
  9. Gate opens to another plane, all within D20 feet must save vs dex modified by thier distance from the epicentre to not be sucked through. The gate shuts again D6 minutes after it opens.
  10. Outer/Inner/Both bags teleported D% miles or plane shifted.
  11. All movable objects within D20 feet teleported D% miles or plane shifted. Creatures may save vs magic to avoid.
  12. Bag contents swopped. If either is overfilled as a result it ruptures and becomes non magical.
  13. Outer/Inner/Both bags contents swopped for another set of random items which have been lost in the void.
  14. Outer/Inner/Both bags magical contents must all save vs cancellation.
  15. Outer/Inner/Both bags magical contents lose their magic for 1 second to 100 days.
  16. No ill effects noticed.
  17. Negative energy burst effects all with in a D20' radius save vs magic or reduced to 50% of current HPS.
  18. Positive energy burst effects all within a D20' radius, all cured half of any damage taken.
  19. Bags initialy fit together ok but then fly apart with a loud bang, save vs magic in a D% radius to not be deafened and immediatly roll an encounter chance.
  20. Inner bag becomes stuck in the outer bag and can/can't be removed, count weight of inner bag towards the outer bags limit otherwise outer bag can be used normaly. Contents of inner bag cant be accessed.
  21. Only Inner bag can be accessed as the openings of both appear to be joined, contents of outer bag inaccessable. Inner bag can/can't be removed from outer bag. (If inner bag can be removed it usually needs to be empty then it will fall out.)
  22. Inner bag bonds to outer bag enlarging the overall size of the outer bag. Inner bag can/can't be removed.
  23. Outer bag seals closed for 1 second to 100 days, the inner bag cant be accessed during this time.
  24. The outer bag repels the inner bag and it just wont go into the outer bag, any attempt to force the inner bag into the outer will result in both bags having to save vs crushing blow to not loss their magic.
  25. D10 Magic items in the Outer/Inner/Both bags become none magical and a like number of other non magical items become magical. (Try to balance the value/power of the items lost and gained).
  26. "So thats how they are made" a new extraDimensional bag is created in a nearby object, size of new bag is from smallest -20% to largest +20%, the new "baby" bag is empty and is a merger of its "parents" bag types and abilitys.

Notes

  1. 1 second to 100 days is generated as follows:- Roll D4 for the Type of unit 1 = seconds; 2 = minutes; 3 = hours; 4 = days. Then roll D% for the number of units.
  2. In the text above the term "BAG" refers to the the Extra-Dimensional object be it a bag, a piece of cloth, a box, a pouch, etc, etc.
  3. In the text above the terms "INNER & OUTER" are used as follows the INNER bag has been placed inside the OUTER bag.

Usage
I suggest that whenever two extra-dimensional spaces are brought together about 2D2 of the above effects are applied, taking each in the order they occur and disregarding any conflicts. The table should be consulted everytime extradimensional spaces are brought together to keep the players guessing.
Each time the same 2 bags are brought together the effect will be different.
