Elbamar
- Elbamar is a +3 Bastard Sword. When first found Elbamar has no
apparent special powers and is unaligned. Elbamar absorbs the life
force of the first creature it kills. Any abilities & powers of the
absorbed creature become available to the sword owner. After its first
kill Elbamar aligns itself to its owner.
- Elbamar's personality is the same as the victims personality when they
where alive. The owner and victim will be in conflict for control each
round and the owner must make a save vs magic at +/- the difference
between personalities once every D20 minutes that Elbamar is used.
Elbamar's ego is calculated by finding its personality as if the
sucked in victim was still alive and subtracting the victims
intelligence.
- The trapped victim can't advance in level if it was capable of doing
so before it was killed.
- Spells known to the victim can be used and relearnt by the owner
learning the spell as if they where the victim. Only those spells which
the victim hadn't cast when they died, or still had running when they
died, can be learnt and recast. To cast the victims spells the owner
must touch Elbamar's hilt and request the spell, this grants the
ability to cast the spell (forgotten once finished), material
components must be provided by the owner. The touching of the sword and
transfer of knowledge etc adds 1 segment to the casting time of the
spell. The level of caster is the level of the victim.
- When fighting the victim has some control over the owner such that the
victims & owners fighting skills must be averaged. IE if the victim is
a 10 dice monster (AC0 = 10) and the owner is a 5th level thief (AC0 =
19) the resultant hit chance would be AC0 = (10+19)/2 = 29/2 = 14.5 =
14 (round towards the owner).
- When owner & victim have a different number of attacks the average is
again found. IE 1) Owner 1/1, Victim 2/1 = 3/2. 2) Owner 1/1, Victim
3/2 = (1+1.5)/2 = 1.25 = 5/4.
- If the victim is non proficient with bastard sword the non proficiency
must be included in the hit chance average calculations.
- Elbamar has its victims Intelligence and Wisdom and can speak any of
its victims languages.
- When Elbamar's wielder dies, the victim's life force is released, Elbamar's
alignment is cancelled and it can accept a new victim.
- Elbamar can be traded / lent, but there is always the danger that the
new owner may be taken over by the victim (personality vs personality
save vs magic at =/- the difference each round) if the sword takes the
owner over it will suicide the owner to free itself.
- A victim cannot be brought back to life while trapped in the sword
without the use of wishes.
