Estimated Band Instrument Repair Price List

January 1, 2002

We will always thoroughly inspect each and every instrument and if higher cost prevail inform of additional cost before doing any work.  Repairs are authorized up to but will not exceed $50.00 without the approval from the owner of the instrument.  (shipping costs not included) Below are a definition of some of our terms.

Playing condition:

1.)   Necessary repairs or replacement of parts essential for the correct operation of the instrument.

2.)  Removal of minor cosmetic dents and or dents that effect the playing condition.

3.)   Final adjustment, lubrication of mechanisms and test play of the instrument

In general minor playing condition repairs take about a half an hour to an hour labor time.  (Somewhere around $10 to $20 dollars labor cost)  However dent work can increase this price!

  Re-pad:

1.)   Disassemble the instrument removing all pads

3.)   Clean all keys, screws and body parts

4.)   Replace all pads

5.) Playing Condition

Mechanical Overhaul:

     1.) Re-pad

     2.) Re-cork

     3.) Playing Condition

Chemical Clean:

1.)  The use of acids to remove tarnish and lime deposits from the body, valves, and or keys.

2.)  Thorough cleaning to remove acids and dirt.

This will only be done on specific instruments approved by the repair personnel and at an additional $40.00 charge to the playing condition cost.  (Since the customer is always right there will be no guaranties concerning the demand of chemicals being used on any instrument)

Polishing:

Machine buffing of all keys on woodwinds and hand polishing of silver bodied instruments.  Done in conjunction with a mechanical overhaul and at an additional charge of $40.00.  If this service is requested without a mechanical overhaul additional labor charges may be incurred.  If this service is requested on thinly plated instruments it may be denied.  If this service is requested on lacquered instruments it will be denied unless the customer desires the lacquer removed.

Of course dent work, solder work, fabricating missing and no longer available parts can all cause repair cost to escalate.  We do our best to keep costs as low as possible and we will let you know of any and all excess costs before we do any repair work.
