I congratulate Namilyango College on having marked 95 years of existence. Less importance is attached to mere 95 years of existence than to the purpose of existence. Namilyango College as an institution has given it's existence a good meaning.
I commend the Mill Hill Missionaries, the founders of Namilyango College in 1902. It was the wish of the founders that Education should be for Creating Rsponsible Citizens and Leaders, a goal that has been achieved. This grand goal of the founders has been validated through the sustained academic excellence and contribution to the manpower requirements of Uganda. This is by no means an insignificant achievement. Credit here goes to the Management, the Staff, Parents and Students of Namilyango College. Results of "O" and "A" Level for the past decadeshow Namilyango among the best schools in performance, a clear manifestation of purposeful existence.
As we mark 95 years of existence of Namilyango College, the present school leadership, and indeed other authorities in Education Sector must live to the challenges and demands of being able to provide education for the country's children as we turn into the next century.
The provision of education, formal or otherwise, is one of the most worthy but challenging tasks facing the parents, teachers and government of uganda today. Education plays a vital role in the development of a country.
I must thank Namilyango College for it's effort towards the widening of the content of education provided. Namilyango College has served beyond teaching of the traditional Arts and Science subjects to provide other aspects of education that make secondary school products more "Job Market Friendly". The teaching of Computer Science and maintanance of a strong tradition of Sports are steps in the right direction.
I encourage the spirit of cooperation and networking among the students, teachers, school administration, Board of Governors, Parents, Old students and the General Public very useful in the promotion of relevant and quality education in Uganda. Government through the Ministry will continue to support Namilyango College in the struggle to improve the relevance and quality of education given to our children.
