Sometimes called the "Oil capital of the world," Tulsa lies on the banks of the Arkansas River in the heart of rich petroleum and natural gas fields of Oklahoma.
Mohawk Park, in the town has some lakes, a zoo, and some woodlands. Spavinaw Lake, created by a dam 60 miles northeast of Tulsa, supplies the city with water.
Institutions of higher education (posh!) include the University of Tulsa, world-famous for its college of petroleum engineering, (what ever that is!) and Oral Roberts University. Tulsa Junior College opened in 1970. Perhaps the trio will go there someday!!!

Some creek Indians settled the area in 1836, and called it "Tulsey Town." In 1882 the first railroad came, (yeaa!) and in 1898 the town was built. (wahoo!) The population of "Tulsey Town" is (1990 figures), 367,302. Phew!
