Isn't it the pits when things don't work the way they are suppose to? I suppose half our lives are spent figuring out why something is not working.
Today I turned on my disk defragmenter before 10 a.m. and it was still checking for errors at 6:30 p.m. when I finally turned it off. I wonder why it's doing that? I checked the power settings and it's set to never turn off. I turned off the screensaver and even the wallpaper. I turned off Norton Anti-virus, just in case it was checking for errors and somehow deranged the disk defragmenter (can't these guys just get along?!!)
However, I have defragged the computer once since I downloaded Norton anti-virus and I don't remember running into any problems then.
I've deleted a huge amount of data off my computer in the past two weeks, and I'm sure the drive needs defragging. I finally got through that huge amount of data that I had accumulated when my rogue computer was making duplicates of all the files. I could have deleted them all quickly, but I went through them folder by folder and checked to make sure it really was a duplicate and that I had an identical folder (same number of bytes of contents) somewhere else on my computer.
I spent all day yesterday on that, and I had such a feeling of accomplishment. Now if this diddly computer would do it's job, I'd feel a lot happier. (Metaphorically kicking the thang!)
I was checking my C drive to see how much harddrive space I had left. The cursor was blinking in this empty field, so I decided to type something in it I assumed I could name my C drive any name I wanted. So I typed a word in the box, and the screen went blank like the computer was crashing. Then Norton Anti-Virus sent a warning screen: Virus-like Activity is attempting to write to your C-drive. Hmmm... my cold is worse than I thought. ~ smirk ~ I'm infecting my computer.
