I'm so pleased with myself because I've been able to figure out the CD writer. I've backed up my webpage, my under-construction pages, my midi collection, and the other dis n dat stuff. I still need to back up some of the less than obvious stuff -- like all my settings, pallettes, and brushes in Paint Shop Pro.
The CD writer instructions weren't much help, but the help screens were. The only problem is that you had to have an error, then highlight the error before the help screen would pop up. The troubleshooting tips were not helpful. Intuitively I figured out that the problem was an out-of-memory error which confounded me since I have 320 MB of RAM and 4 Gigs of empty harddrive space. No where in the instructions did it tell me to increase the TEMP folder settings. In fact, I had to hunt down the screen where this is changed. It's not a setting that I've ever fooled with since I've owned my computer.
I'm also pleased with myself because I figured out FTP on this computer (mine is still not working). I managed to upload the fall greeting card you see on the What's New? page. I suppose this post doesn't really qualify as a peril, does it? But I can't be in a tizzy all the time, now, can I?
