My honey and I have been married for years.

Our wedding anniversary is in October.

We got married in 1967 in Fairbanks, Alaska, and we've lived here ever since.

We met in Hawaii in 1963.  My friend Patty could talk of nothing but "Keith."  He was gorgeous, blue eyes, curly brown hair, a muscular build and deep tan from working outside.  But he was a bit too flambouyant for my taste.  Besides, he lived in Fairbanks and I lived in Anchorage.

My next contact with Keith was when he dated my best friend.  JoAnn and I lived in Anchorage.  I was touched by his romantic gestures toward Jo.  He wrote her a small book that made her smile.  I don't know what was in it because she never let me read it.

A few times a year, Keith would come to Anchorage even after he and Jo broke up.  Then my father volunteered to serve in Viet Nam.  Our family moved to Indiana to stay with my Grammaw.

I probably never would have seen him again, except that in April of 1966, another friend, met Keith in Anchorage.  He fell head-over-heels in love with her.  When she moved to Indiana, he followed her.

The three of us went everywhere together.  He and I drove the fifteen miles to work every morning.  We spent these hours talking and sharing our intimate thoughts.  I fell in love with him before I knew what was happening.  I don't think my girlfriend has ever forgiven me for it.

Keith took me to my senior prom, and I felt like the belle of the ball.  When he kissed me good night, I thought it was only a dream that we'd ever get together.  Keith was determined to marry my friend even after she said, "no" more than once.  I felt like Jane Eyre and her secret love.

The summer of 1967 we moved back to Anchorage, and Keith moved back to Fairbanks.  Over the fourth of July weekend, he came down and asked me, "Please don't get involved with anyone until I have a chance to sort out my feelings."

Keith generously paid for my girlfriend and I to take a trip to Ketchikan.  While there he indicated he was ready to begin a relationship with me.  I was walking about six inches off the ground the whole weekend.

Keith's mother called and invited me to move to Fairbanks.  Keith drove down and moved all my possessions, and I rode the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Fairbanks.  I didn't think it was proper for me to ride with him alone in his car.

He met me at the train station and took me to dinner at a large hotel.  I moved in with his Mom. One night we were watching television and we began wrestling on the floor.  I'll never forget that he was leaning over me and nonchalantly asked me, "Will you marry me?"

Before he could change his mind, I said, "Yes!"

Before we could make plans for a wedding, the city of Fairbanks was deluged with a hundred-year flood.  But that's a whole 'nother story.

bear holding flowers My Honey buys me roses.  When our two sons were born, he bought me a vase of red roses and a yellow one for the baby.  Out of the blue, he'll come home with roses when I least expect it.

My Honey buys me candy.  He knows my weakness for chocolate, and he brings me my favorite.  As a result, my girlish figure is a fond memory.
