The Abdication
Those rare days when the world lies spread before me
So many tiny, perfect pieces
Each carved with painstaking love and care
To dovetail with its brother
I find that world no home for such as me
But come the days when all is rage and chaos
Fire, storm, scattered wreckage of long-held hope and dreams
Now in this world I have a place
Unsteady, violent but my own
Where I rule, laughing, Lord of my destruction
So now I beg you, let me step down from the throne
Give up this wild reign
Pass on the bloody crown to one more suited
Some ragged, raging soul
Whose hunger burns undimmed and will not sleep
Go In Peace
