Now Playing: USFS Adult Skating Camp Rocks on at the Ice House!
Hello Everybody,
This year's USFS Adult Skating Training Camp was perhaps the best ever. This fourth annual event was held at the area's most elite skating facility, the Ice House located in Hackensack, New Jersey. According to figure skating director, Craig Maurizi, campers came in from as far as Canada & California with representatives from at least 20 states. This facility is beautiful and home ice to many top competitive skaters such as Sasha Cohen and Sarah Hughes. They now can boast a newly opened 1,700 sq ft Athletic Performance Center with state of the art exercise equipment and fitness rooms for Pilate's, ballet and plyometrics.

Running the entire weekend from June 25th to June 27th, skaters were treated to camp tee-shirts, a sumptuous buffet luncheon, free ice practice sessions and a non-stop curriculum of on and off ice training classes. Top level coaches included Robin Wagner, newly weds Silvia Fontana & John Zimmerman, Artur Dmitriev and Peter Tchernychev. All of the sessions were well planned according to the level of the skaters while keeping the groups relatively small. Hand outs were also provided to reinforce what was covered in class.
The last day of camp cumulated with an on ice visit by Sasha Cohen to each of the classes. A surprise visit by US Pairs Team members Inoue and Baldwin was a special added treat.

DO make plans to attend next year as it is a value packed weekend for skaters of all levels. The announcement for next year's camp will be posted at the Figure Skating Guide's Bulletin Board located on the homepage. Special thanks to Graf Canada for providing their beautiful Dance Boots and NEW model Graf Dance Blades for participation in the Dance Track with coaches Artur Dmitriev and Peter Tchernychev. I ice danced with both of these gentlemen in my Graf Dance boots and skated like a dream! This season, I will be testing Graf's revolutionary F4000's which is a hinged freestyle boot so watch for reviews of both this model and their Dance Boots and Blades. Also a very special thanks to Rosie Wear for the super hot Jazz Pants with Attached Skirt, (the ice was literally melting) and skater's charm jewelry. Visit both these company's websites to the left for more information. Be sure to also check out my articles in Rink Magazine which is also linked to your left.
