Janeway's parents were both scientists, her father a Starfleet astrophysicist, her mother a mathemetician. Her family lived among farmers, and Janeway's parents forced her to learn about gardening. She did not enjoy these. The family also went on frequent backpacking trips.
Janeway has a facination with art. Her favorite historical figure is Leonardo Da Vinci and was once engaged to be married.
Janeway started in Starfleet as a science officer serving under Captain Paris on the Al-Batani, and later became captain of the Voyager.
